If you don't need a traditional bakery, Dorignacs has a damn strong selection for a grocery store

Besides the traditional places, I like going to Gracious Bakery. They now have 2 locations; one on Jeff Davis and the other on St. Charles. The owner worked at Bayona and Sucre prior to opening up her own shop.

Not saying it's the best, but I've always liked Chez Pierre

The smell from that bakery up front at the store on vets is divine.

Cake Café on Chartres in the Marigny has fresh baked goods daily. Their cinnamon rolls are the best.

My favorite, pre-K, was La Bonbonierre on Carrolton. He closed shop after the storm.
