well, dammit Jax, looks like I wont be coming to Portland this year either. I promised Mrs. LST that when Biggio gets in the HOF, we would go, and last year she agreed that we would leave from there and go to Vermont.

So, for you guys that have been there, what do I need to know before going to Alchemist and/or Hill Farmstead? Can you get beer from them to take home or will I need to go look for it somewhere else?

Unfortunately you cant buy Alchemist from the cannery any more, so you will have to get from a retail store or from a truck sale if they have one when you are in town. They post on their website the retail locations for cans.

On rare occasion Hill Farmstead bottles can occasionally be found in Burlington, but more than likely you will have to get them from the brewery.

It might be worth noting when planning your trip that the Hall of Fame induction is typically on a Sunday and Hill Farmstead is only open to the public on Wednesday through Saturday.

ETA: If you have time, stop at Lost Nation on the way back from Hill Farmstead. They are right off Route 100 and have really good food and beer.

Went to Hill Farmstead on a Friday in May. Got there 45 minutes before opening. It took two hours in the line to finally make a growler purchase. Be prepared.

I cannot speak o their new tasting room or how much it will improvw the wait times.

7 of those were in barrels. Damn you for making me break my self-imposed ban. Going back into hiding now.

Hey LST, as of right now, the only beer The Alchemist regularly brews is Heady Topper, but I think they just got a label design for Focal Banger and might be regularly canning that by the time you visit. Check their website before you go for which stores sell Heady and when they get deliveries. You might luck up like me and pick a weekend when they are doing a truck/tent sale.

Hill Farmstead has a retail page on their website that they update daily which explains what they sell and how much it costs. I shipped an empty 12-bottle shipper to myself to handle my entire Hill Farmstead haul. It worked out nicely.

Along with The Alchemist and Hill Farmstead, I would definitely seek out beers from Lawson's Finest Liquids and Fiddlehead. Lawson's doesn't have a brewery open to the public, but they make weekly bottles/can deliveries in Burlington, Warren, and Montpelier, and you should be able to find them on tap in those areas as well. Fiddlehead is in Shelburne, just south of Burlington and I think they usually have a weekly canning. They had a great pizza place next door.

Be sure to check out the awesome pubs in Waterbury.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions, now or later.
