We only plan to go for a day (MAYBE two) and spend the rest in San Fran. How many would you say in a day?

Thanks so much. Really good read with lots of information. Enjoyable. Upvotable (is that a real word? - I don't think so)

I actually reserved an average of 4 tastings per day. I drove the entire time with no problems.

Ok well maybe we will drive. We will see. If renting a driver for the day isn't outrageous, we will do that. I don't mind driving at all though.

Plus driving means we can get the car in San Fran when we fly in and then be able to drive back and spend the rest of the week there.

That's what the wife and I typically do. Though we start in SF, then go to Sonoma/Napa. If you buy a shite ton of wine and beer and ship some back in luggage, it makes it easier to do wine and Russian River/Lagunitas last.

As for Domain Chandon, my wife loved it so much she joined the wine club. We went back there for her birthday last year and they really took care of us.

Definitely something to keep in mind. Thanks.

Domain Chandon is great.

I would look into Chappellet...those that know wine love this place. We are wine club members there

Also...Robert sinskey, chimney rock, paraduxx and cuvaison were all good.

My mom and I did a tour at Opus One and had a super time. Got a couple of huge pours and went up to the deck away from the other folks and stretched that glass for at least an hour. Tremendous memory, beautiful facility.

We went there on the last trip. I love their wines but it takes so long to get to the top of that hill. Not to mention that while driving up the mountain on that narrow road we almost met our death caused by a delivery truck coming down.
