Did they taste the same? Why does my brain tell me the yellow was better other than that I can’t have it

Red is definitely better. But I think I only had the yellow once so I'm a little biased.

Yellow creme was by far the best. It was my all time favorite soda.

Not that the red sucks, but the yellow was just awesome.

One of the many enjoyments of my youth that have been lost forever.

They haven't sold it since the early 90s, that's why.

I can’t truly enjoy a roast beef po-boy if it isn’t accompanied by a Barq’s Red Creme Soda

By yellow does that mean French Vanilla?

No, it doesn't. For a long time there were two separate Barq's companines, one in Mississippi and the remains of the original one in Louisiana. The yellow was sold by one, and the French vanilla by the other. The yellow got discontinued in the early 90s.

Barq’s still makes French Vanilla (yellow) cream soda. I had some over the summer at a friends house in ATL. Barq’s sold out to Coca~Cola who kept the old traditional drink.

That's not yellow cream soda. That's French vanilla cream soday.

Read my last post. There were two different Barq's companies. One in Mississippi, and one in Louisiana. One sold the yellow, the other didn't.

It was discontinued before the internet was a thing. I can't even find a picture of it.

But that you posted isn't it.

I'll believe you, but the yellow was always the french vanilla. Maybe I missed something somewhere, but they rebranded as French Vanilla sometime in the 90s it seems.

Loved it growing up. There is a thread somewhere around 2010 on here where we had a hunt for it.

It seems like I remember the yellow being better than the red also.

My great grandmother always talked about pop rouge. was that an actual thing or just a cajun/creole reference to the red one?

There was Pop Rouge and it's counterpart, La Grape. I remember drinking it in the 70's.

I grew up in Metairie as my grandparents owned a bowling alley that exclusively sold Barqs, 7-Up, and RC (Royal Crown) soda products. Everything was glass bottles in the old dispensing machines. I’m in my mid 50’s and don’t recall which exact Barq’s products they sold (either LA or MS)
