Boulder Colorado’s Avery Brewing will begin distributing their beer to Louisiana this spring. Avery has signed on with Mockler Beverage in the Baton Rouge market, Southern Eagle in the New Orleans market and Champagne Beverage in the Northshore market. Avery beers will debut at Zapp’s International Beer Festival on Saturday, April 1st at the LSU Rural Life Museum in Baton Rouge. Representatives from Avery will be in town the following week for launch events all over Baton Rouge. Other markets around the state will follow shortly afterward.
White Rascal – a Belgian style white ale brewed with coriander and orange peel
El Gose – a German style Gose brewed with lime and sea salt
Liliko’i Kepolo – a Belgian style white ale brewed with passionfruit
Raspberry Sour – a barrel aged sour ale with red raspberries added
Vanilla Bean Stout – a 10.8% barrel aged stout with vanilla beans added
Maharaja Double IPA – a limited quantity of this double IPA will make its way here to begin.

Good news for you guys. Avery is one of the best breweries out here. Their sours are quite good. I judged the Raspberry Sour at a festival last fall and loved it. Got a silver iirc.

meh
I used to get excited about new breweries coming here but with the emergence of some solid to excellent local breweries, just don't feel the need to scope out anything else.

I guess that might have been true 10 years ago? Nowadays Avery can't touch what's happening at some of the actual best breweries in CO.

This thread has made me thirsty

another brewery that will be a shelf turd after the initial release

Their special release stouts have some punch to them.

Is the Vanilla Bean Stout – a 10.8% barrel aged stout with vanilla beans any good? That would be the one I would want to try.

I've got enough local beers I'm not drinking. I'm good capping distribution now.

I'm all for more choices, but if these other breweries start taking away shelf space for locals, I might be down with this idea

Definitely need more sours on the shelves, IMO.

It's a perfectly fine beer. That is probably how I would describe most of their non-specials.
Some of their limited releases have been very good. Some will knock you on your arse.

Of course, you realize that the more choices there are on the shelves, the longer the beers you covet will stay on the shelves. Eventually, there will be no need to run out and grab the latest release by Parish the day it comes out.
Also, more choices means you will still have decent beer to drink when the beer you really wanted is sold out.

True.
Problem is that Envie is already not moving. Faux demand due to supply is driving the market in this area.
