also i think age has a lot to do with it.

I frequented a lot of the places on that list when I was 25 or so and under. Now that I'm in my early 30's i much prefer a dive bar and even if i was single i wouldn't be trying to meet girls out at a bar anyway at this point in my life.

Why are folks hating on Monkey Hill?

Granted I've never been on a Saturday night but it's a chill bar with good drinks

Smoke is awful in there though.

Why go to Monkey Hill when the best Bar in NOLA is only a few blocks east?

Last time I was there, they had all of the purple and red light bulbs on and nobody was sitting on the velvet sofas

Do you honestly need two door guys for a place across from the finest men's clothier this side of the Mississippi?

I've been to some of those bars but it's been years. It seems many have little in common with the others and, I suspect, attract differing crowds. So, if those are the douchiest bars in N.O., I have to ask, what is a douche?

And, why is the whiny author so bitter?

The guy was just trying to smear as many different groups of people as possible which is why the bars are a disparate bunch. The thing they all have in common is that they are frequented by people who enjoy being alive or show signs of being successful, so thats probably the agenda he has.

yep. + Delachaise and Monkey Hill too.

Places like Finn McCool's, Kingpin, Rendezvous are not chick-places. These types of places just have... females - not girly-girls.

Nailed it here too. I'm in a relationship so when I do go out to bars I'm usually not so much worried about being surrounded by hot women (a trait that goes hand-in-hand with being surrounded by toolbags as well); just want a cool spot with any combo of the following: good beer selection, good TV setup, solid jukebox, a kitchen or close access to food truck, pool table / darts / Golden Tee, cool crowd.

Watching a soccer or football game is awesome at Finn's, but expect to see people not dressed to impress like you would at other places. Different types of bars for different needs.

Spot on yet again.
