I don't understand the hate that St. Roch Market gets on here . I've had drinks at the Mayhaw there and enjoyed it.

I enjoyed it. Been more than once. Just questioning its direction.

A bunch of adults resorting to 7th grade potty jokes because they don't possess the intelligence or wit to be funny in a context devoid of toilet humor? Nah, I'd much prefer arse's threads to such infantile nonsense.

I definitely miss the food and friends. It's been a nice change of pace though.

Wait.. How is sharing your clean bathroom of choice "toilet humor"?

I appreciate that kind of info. Bar bathrooms are gross. I love knowing where I can get away with the cleanest stop when I'm drinking beer and bathroom trips are more frequent.

These aren't jokes brah. Knowing where to find a sanitary bathroom in the quarter is a serious matter.

Probably some Marigny Bywater hippy yammering at him at St. Roch Market.

I didn't hate it. It just wasn't what I was expecting. I was hoping to find some fish to purchase along with some produce. Their produce was bagged and put in a pirogue with ice. It looked like shite. I enjoyed the meal, but I doubt I'd drive there to eat, unless I was coming from Da Parish. Even then I'd likely stop at Rocky's.

The "hate" mainly stems from the fact that the city issued survey questionnaires throughout the St. Roch, Marigny and Bywater area, soliciting advice on what people wanted the Market to become. A source of fresh seafood/fruit/vegs/meat was the overwhelming choice, driven by the fact that we don't have much in the way of full service grocers in this area. As Arse pointed out, what the Market has actually become, is not what the area wanted. It's a beautiful build-out, but doesn't really serve the needs of the community. Some of the angst should wane when (if) the Robert's grocery at the corner of Elysian Fields and St Claude opens.

Especially when I heard they have a place to buy produce and fish. The produce and flowers were pathetic. Most of it belonged in a dumpster.

They keep claiming that fresh fish sales are coming, but nothing has happened yet. We'll see. From what I've been told, about half of the vendors are not doing well, and with summer slow downs now starting to hit, that may worsen things for them. Maybe that will lend itself to changes in the make-up of the market.
