Wife got me this for an early Father’s Day gift. Just downloaded the app. Seems decently put together and user friendly thus far.

About to put some chicken and veggies on the grill.

I’ve got a piece of shite brinkmann gas grill that seems to have two temps, cold or HOT, so I’m hoping this MEATER+ will help a little until I can upgrade my appliances.

Recently purchased the block, but haven’t had a chance to use it. Initial quality seems good.

Have a large Rec-Tec with hot spot issues. Hoping to use these plus another thermometer to make controller adjustments.

I have the meater (I think the older version but still wifi). It's very good but obviously be sure to place it into the right part of the meat to get the internal temp. My mom used it for a chicken once and didn't put it deep enough into the meat and it was only like 150 internal not 165

It’s very good and pretty damn accurate. Used it today on chicken. If you need any help let me know.

I have one, it's pretty good for large cuts. The probe is pretty damn wide compared to just a normal meat thermometer, if you like to check temps on smaller cuts, you need something else.

I like it when I use it though. Good range, good battery time. The app is hit or miss with the calculations for time on the temp curve, but I use a real wood fire only, so it can't expect to know how that fluctuates. Those graphs/timers are probably better in an oven or kamado style cooker. I usually leave the block right by the grill, which hits the wi-fi just fine so I can roam around with my phone wherever.

I do need something better for smaller cuts that you can't stab with a quarter inch wide probe. I'm thinking of getting an instant read digital one.

I got one for a gift and bought a second. Love them on any thicker cut. Probably use it at least once a week on steaks or pork chops. Obviously works great on Boston butts, briskets, whole birds.

I've got one and use it any time I am cooking a large piece of meat. It has been extremely reliable as far as connection goes and they have a pretty good app that lets me look at everything I want to.

As someone mentioned, the algorithm for cook times can be off but I don't rely on it.

2 tips:

Download the app on a tablet and use that to connect directly to the block. From there you can check temps over wifi on your phone. This way you don't have to worry about staying in range.

Something I didn't realize when I got it is that it cannot go above 300 degrees. You will start getting warning all over the place telling you it will get damaged once you get close to that temp.

Interesting feedback on the temperature warning. From MEATER: Dual temperature sensors in each probe can monitor internal meat temperature up to 212°F and ambient / external temperature up to 527°F simultaneously.

I got one when it first came out and use it all the time. Easily my favorite meat thermometer I've ever used. I hate anything with wires on them. The Meater is really easy to use, and is accurate and you can even use it for rotisserie stuff.

Agree - anyone with experience want to comment? I'm thinking of a situation where I am searing steaks at a higher temperature. Would that break this probe?

Depends on which temperature he was referring to. No issue if internal. If ambient, then certainly an issue with rating above 500.

Weird. Maybe my probe wasn't in right and it was trying to tell me internal was 300+.

My external was no where near 500.

I just got the Meatstick which is basically the same thing. Used it for the first time this weekend and had the grill too hot. By the time I noticed the warning the exterior had started to melt. I bought multiple sticks so I made sure to turn the grill down a bit before I put the next one in. It seemed to work as advertised.

I have only gotten the ambient temp warning once, and I was above 400 over direct fire. It does fine in the 300s.

Think mine crapped out. Second time in a row it was reporting higher temps than it really was via probe by 30-40 degrees IT
