Why don't you call around and then inform us of what the prices are?

I can tell you that they are $15 a dozen on Grand Isle this year, even though they are crawling out of the water and into boiling pots.

Call Tony's. Report back.

At Tony's 2 weeks ago large live crabs were $6.49 EACH. Needless to say we passed

Crabs can't resist the roar of a jet burner. It's like the piedpiper blowing his flute.

We caught 6 dozen in 4 traps overnight from Friday to Saturday. Interesting note, we baited one with bluefish and lady fish and it caught 4. The 3 baited with trout heads caught them all.

Interesting. I personally didn't have traps but one of the neighbors had traps out in the surf all weekend with speck guts and didn't do shite. Now two weeks ago they were jumping in the pot. Got about 5 dozen with a hand trawl.

Maybe he set them upside down. I've done that.

Maybe, but they had a brick zip tied to the bottom of the trap to keep it down in the surf so I'm sure they had it down the right way. I know locals aren't the smarts folks but I think they got this covered.

That was more a jab at myself. We bent up rebar that we use to stake them down.

I'll tell you this, the beach by my camp was so packed last weekend (more than Tarpon) that I had to set my traps behind some other lines. No problem when I set them at low tide. When I picked them up at high tide and had to dive to get the steaks out and swim those bitches out. Felt like David Hasselholf.

I picked up 8 crabs at Tony's yesterday for $25. They sell them by the pound, which I like.

I thought Tony's sold them by the pound too, so $6.49/lb, not $6.49 each. I got 4 a few weeks ago and they were about $12 total.

ETA: The ones I bought were boiled already, not live.
