Up on the corner of Lake Ave. and Old Hammond in Bucktown? Looks like they are doing some interior renovations, but nothing to the dumpy outside.

Bucktown Burger and Fish Co. before must have been a damn fine joke as it seemed to have flopped from day one. Can't remember the name of the shite hole that was there before, but was amazed that they stayed open as long as they did.

I've lived in Lakeview 24 years.

There have been a minimum of 15 restaurants at that place. They never last more than a year or two.

ETA:

If I'm going to Bucktown, I'm eating at R&Os or buying crawfish at Schaeffers.

Love R&O's, but I gave them a break for a while after their stupid reality TV show and my perception that the place was too dirty at times.
I went back about 6 months ago and the food was as good as ever though.
Have enjoyed my recent trips to the N.O. Food and Spirits with their new patio dining set up with the fountain.

Not since Carmine's burned the kitchen and took the insurance money on their equipment that may or may nto have been in the restaurant at the time.

I've lived there my whole life as well. That place is the death of restaurants. It is a good location. I wonder why we can't get a good option in that spot.

Too much nearby competition and nobody ever has an interesting concept - it's all "generic bucktown restaurant" ie R&O's but not as good. So you might as well go to R&O's

There was a restaurant there before Katrina that was opened I think by a Galatoire's maitre'd, and served food similar to Galatoire's in a more casual setting. It was great, but it didn't make it because no one thinks to go to Bucktown for trout amandine. Can't remember the name though.

isn't parking a nightmare for the restaurant on that particular corner or does it have parking around back like R&O's too? If it doesn't have additional parking, the easy play is to simply opt to walk into R&O's since you're parking down there anyway even if you intended to go to this place initially.

There is a little parking behind the restaurant and then you could use the lot across the street if spots are available.

Part of it is the building owner. The rent is absurd for that space. I had a friend look into it and he would have done great business in that location, but the rent would have killed any profit unless he cut food quality or prices that wouldn't fit the space/location.

Really disappointed that it is going to be another generic seafood place that will be put out to pasture by R&O's.

Hahaha Carmine's.

My cousin had a summer job there the year he torched it.
Glad somebody from the board remembers that.

I was going to try it, but find myself at R&Os when in that area.
