Anyone ever smoke a ham using mesquite

Don't do it if done in the traditional manner, places that cook with it don't use the wood but cook over mesquite coals shoveled under the meat, brisket is awesome if done right.

I'm not sure that the trademark bitterness of mesquite would go all that well with ham.
