I didn't get out there much before the storm, and nowadays I really have no idea if there is any place decent up there. Anything worth mentioning? Or should I just hit up someplace good in Metairie on the way for an early meal before the game?

How near UNO are you looking for?
If you run up RE Lee to Old Hammond Hwy, you can hit N.O. Food & Spirits and R&O's.
Lakeview Harbor on Harrison is a must.
If you are looking for something really close, like on Franklin or Elysian Fields, you may be out of luck.

Is the shite. I wouldn't call it near UNO though.

Yea, R&O was actually my metairie/bucktown fallback idea already, was just wondering if there was some good hole in the wall type place near campus that I just didn't know about.

I work nearby right now and Cafe Roma is pretty darn good. It is in the strip with Rouses at Leon C. Simon and Franklin Ave. This is across from the Lakefront Arena.

some of preferences are II Tony's Seafood Italian and Wasabi (right across from Russels Grill) Sushi

not a fan of NO Food & Spirits and don't really like a bunch of fried foods, BUT r&o's has some decent sandwiches

stay away from deanies and live bait has CHEAP lunch specials and for the price and pretty good

Besides Lakeview and Bucktown, Gentilly is the next closest area with food. The area the surrounds UNO is a culinary wasteland...pre-Katrina there was a Bud's Broiler, but that was it....Sclafini's used to be out da' East, brah.

Lafitte's Cafe is not a bad spot. It is a sports bar atmosphere and has decent food and is close to UNO. All of the coach's shows orginate from Lafitte's

good suggestions so far but if you don't want to drive to bucktown just take wisner through bayou st john and you've got all those local restaurants around esplanade ave, city park, and n. carrollton...
