We decided to try this for the first time recently.

Atmosphere: nice atmosphere, not a real big place.

Service: SLOW. in the waitresses' defense, it seemed to be the kitchen and the bar that was overwhelmed. However, it was a friday night and the place was barely full. If they are going to last in NOLA, they will need to get that fixed.

cocktails and apps: the crispy oysters were delicious. we were on a schedule so we just ordered the one app. The specialty cocktails were great too. One was pecan infused(can't remember name of cocktail) but it was different and very good.

main course: the filet(the special for the night) was cooked perfectly and delicious. wife had the seared tuna. it was also cooked perfectly and tasty.

Ordered the brussel sprouts as a side and they were never deliverd. side note...why do waiters not write stuff down if they can't remember?

unfortunately, didn't have time for dessert.

I'd give the food a "B+" and the service a "D". I'd give the place a second chance if not on a schedule.

sorry, I don't do detailed reviews but since this place hasn't been talked about on here much, thought I'd mention the experience

Place had some buzz when it first opened 3-4 years ago due to it being a former chef from Clancy's, and then just seemed to drop completely off the radar pretty soon thereafter. My one early on experience was about like yours. Decent if unmemorable food and pretty crappy service. Never really got the urge to go back.

Was it busy?

I've wondered how this place was doing. Thanks for the review.

not super busy, especially for a friday. I don't know if the place is understaffed, poorly managed or both. The place definitely has potential but it won't thrive in that market without above average service.

I've eaten there once. Had the sweetbreads which I always like, and a scallop and foie gras dish, which is the reason I tried them in the first place. If a restaurant has either sweetbreads or foie gras, I'm trying it out. I had good conversation with the owner when I was there. Unfortunately, there are so many restaurants in New Orleans and such a finite amount of dining time for me that I haven't been back. I did however have a positive experience. This was back in 2014.

Coming from someone that has an ear to the ground in the service industry, the place has had a hard time keeping good front of the house help for whatever reason. Take it for what it's worth.

I've been once in the end of 2015 and enjoyed it.

Here's an old thread I dug up. Unfortunately, my hosted pics of the meal no longer exist.

if that's true then this is a management issue
it's either compensation, training, dickish managers or all of the above

I have been twice but not in the last year or so. Both times the food was pretty good but not great. I would only go again if it was one of the only places to get in on a Friday or Saturday night. There are too many other better restaurants in the city. I would not be surprised if it closes in the next year.
