French Laundry to say you did it is about what it's worth.

Do they sell T-shirts?

Not really an outlandish statement, given that both are Michelin 3 Star restaurants.

It's $270 a person, plus an additional $200 for wine pairings. It sounds like a lot, but the SO and I are huge foodies/oenophiles, and we'd rather spend that than go out to eat at random places constantly for $80/night.

We will also be there on July 13th.

9:15 reservation. I guess we'll be done by 1 am.

See you there!

How long have y'all been seriously interested in food/wine?

A few years. We're still pretty young, but our European quest to eat at every highly-recommended restaurant we could find, plus our weeks spent touring wineries really helped us learn.

He also tries to cook a meal 2-3 times a week from a chef's cookbook. So we kind of know what to expect when we go.

Very cool. Most folks y'alls age aren't interested in food/wine at that level .. or they can't afford to experience it (the camp I'm in). But we should all certainly strive to expand our knowledge on food, wine and cocktails. So much great stuff out there to try. Super jealous of your FL rez

If I told you how I got the reservation, I don't think you'd believe me. It was NOT through conventional means. Regardless, we got one.

This is what I was getting at. I'd venture that 75% of the "reservations" at places like TFL, per se, Daniel, EMP, Alinea, etc... are off the books holds. Those spots are filled by regulars or through back channels. But having a policy that you only accept reservations 8 weeks out and are full within 20 minutes of opening the books, builds hype. And hype creates demand.

Oh, definitely. Before I got my reservation, I called well over 400 times without one answer. That busy signal was taunting.

Now we're in the process of getting a tee time at Pebble Beach...which is just as stressful. The things I do for my man....

If you're in Monterey and want a good lunch spot Epsilon is the best Greek place I've been to in the states. It's truly amazing. And the owners are really good folks.

It sounds like a lot because it is a lot

Y'all have fun. I've eaten at Per Se once (on someone else's dime) and it was amazing. I wish I could go back now that I have more of an appreciation of food and wine, but I got bills to pay.
