Noticed a sign on Sherwood out in front of Uncle O's touting the arrival a Mexican restaurant. Is Uncle O's on the move again or done."

Shut down a few weeks ago, Im good friends with one of the owners son and never went there so that's probably a good assessment of why they're closing.

Ouncie will do fine. He'll sell his gumbo by the drum.

They say not to judge a book by its cover, yet people do it all the time. Ratty exterior, temporary sign, and just little effort shown. To me, that's a F U to the customer.

Dear Future Mexican Restaurant,

Fix the drive thru awning. I've been looking at the crap ever since before Uncle Os opened. Uncle Os was too trashy to fix it. Don't be trashy like them.

We went several times when it opened, enjoyed it, then the downhill slide. Careless service, lunch tables still unbussed at dinner, food on the floor.

We sure have a lot of Tex-Mex in the area, maybe the new one will do more than the standard boring menu.

I guess that's why they didn't answer the phone when I called a few days ago. What is that propane bottle all about at the drive-thru window? Ouncie should try and bring Fairway View back to its heyday.

That's going to be one very expensive drum of gumbo considering $8 got you a tiny cup.

It was good, but not good enough for me to return often to eat it. Better than what Chimes has been slinging out lately with the vegetable stew they call duck and sausage gumbo.

They had the best hamburger steak with mashed potato's, gravy and grilled onions back when he was on Harrels Ferry. Food went downhill after the move to Sherwood for some reason. I was a regular at the old place.

Isn't this the same location as Brew-Bachers years ago (old Rax). Does anyone know the story of why Brew-Bachers closed?

Yeah .. that place really did go to crap. I really never understood why he even opened it .. When he shut down the S. Harrell's Ferry location, he claimed he was completely done with the retail restaurant business. Always wondered if family talked him into doing that and they were running it ..

I played golf once with Bobby Samaha who owned Fairway View. I was just a wild arse fun loving punk back then. I had quite a few alcohol induced memorable moments at Fairway & Southdowns.

His old partner Jay Byers owns the Time Out Lounge which just reopened on Bennington across from Gino's.

I might stop in for a cocktail in the next week or so.
