They do not do reviews of New Orleans, yet.

However, I know for a fact that several reps for them were in town the first weekend of jazzfest. They dined at least at Peche. They met with some members of local restaurant groups, including the group...linked...to Peche.

There is some thought they are finally exploring the possibility. Just getting it out there since another poster seems to be insinuating the same in the tasting menu thread.

I would be interested in seeing how they rate restaurants in the New Orleans scene.

I kind of thought they used to put a lot of weight on service and being formal and such.
How would that work for Nola as we know that’s somewhat lacking

F&M's cheese fries deserve a Michelin star.

True, which is why a lot of people say Michelin isn't a good barometer in Italy for instance. Different traditions.

I don't think anywhere in NOLA would get a Star. MAYBE Saint Germaine or R'evolution but I doubt it.

I think it would be a start to get it on the radar, with the Bib Gourmand list.

Then we see in a few years how the scene evolves with Michelin in play.

Doesn't scream Michelin to me, unless the criteria has drastically changed

Will be no issue at a fine dining restaurant in NO.

Seriously?

Plenty of places are worthy of at least one star.

Three would be a stretch for anywhere. Maybe August is pretentious enough to get a pity 3 so New Orleans has one.

Now, if Michelin starts giving out stars in NOLA I do think a few chefs try to up their game.

This talk happens every few years; usually doesn't lead to anything.

Friend,

Please send them to Impastato’s. It’s the city’s best restaurant.

In addition to eating in a few Diner, Drive-ins, and Dives restaurants, we have dined at a number of Michelin starred restaurants. I could see August getting one or two stars. At its peak, Stella! was certainly a two star and on the best of nights could have pushed three. Uncle says Stella! was the best restaurant New Orleans has ever had. Brigtsen’s, Criollo, and Clancy’s could all have one star. Instead, if they decide to include NOLA restaurants, don’t be surprised to see them give media popular places like Bayona, Peche, and Emeril’s those stars instead.

Impastato’s, though, is three stars in my dining guide.

My vote goes to Peristyle under Anne Kearney.

Friend,

Peristyle was excellent and a solid one or two star restaurant. I would tend to agree with Uncle, though, that Stella! was better. Have you been to Kearney’s new restaurant in Tampa, Oak and Ola? We tried it recently after a trip to Orlando. It was also excellent.

Stella! Certainly had the pretentiousness to land it multiple stars. Service was crazy.

Food was good too, but the service and wine list really stood out in my experience.

It would be hard to argue that. Though my favorite iteration of Peristyle was with Neal and Kearney in the kitchen.

On topic, I think August would get at least a star. R'evolution would likely get one. Not sure of any others but the criteria is a moving target.

Stella would have been at least a 2 star restaurant.

Isn't it pretty well established that it was for sure happening? I thought I had read an Eater article saying it was all but confirmed.

They are better than the one star I ate at in Chicago, and equal to one of the one stars I ate at in NYC. I've also had Bib places that were better in Europe and San Fran so guess it really depends on the rater.

Service is going to be the hardest part for anywhere here. It's not that they have bad wait staffs here, most are awesome, it's just at Michelin places dining is an experience whereas NOLA treats it as a meal.

New Orleans would be a good spot to start a Michelin guide. Probably the most logical next city to select after the current ones (NY, SF, Chicago, DC)

If not New Orleans, Los Angeles

I’m sorry but August sucks. You don’t get a Michelin star trying to rip off Thomas Keller and doing it poorly.

Stella was legit. Clancys should get a star.

Casual clientele doesn't help the service image either. You can be sitting in a place like LPG and have a couple with coat and tie next to a yat with PFGs and New Balances.
