Precisely my knee-jerk reaction, too. But the more I thought about it, I could see why someone would want to include Hill Farmstead, instead.

Pretty good list, as far as these type lists go.

Sierra Nevada is kind of a head scratcher in that list.

Personally, I think Three Floyds is overrated.

Ditto for Jester King. Or more precisely, I think JK beers are way overpriced for what they are. I get why, but dang they are proud of their beers. More power to them to get people to pay $20 for 500ml bottles of beer fermented from the wild yeast harvested from the taint of their brewmaster.

Not a single brewery from WI? Some of the best beer I've ever had was up there.

Not saying they're not great but I have never even heard of this brewery.

I took a visit here a few weeks back and tried a handful of their beers. I had two different beers, Green Monsta and Slammin Bones, that states Northeast Style India Pale Ale on cans. They were as clear as water and had an awful taste. Also had a few sours that were average at best.

TL;DR J. Wakefield had below-average to average beers on tap and available two weeks ago

Is it really a bias when so many breweries from the east coast are consistently ranked in these types of lists?

much more so lately. They even priced me, as a JK fanboy, out of their market.

but no Russian River? weird.

I think it makes sense given their history and their consistency, coupled with them remaining independent and continuing to grow, in a list ranking Best (independent) Breweries.

What if D O G spelled cat. Just kidding. I don't know but it seems like a disproportionate amount of East coast breweries to me.

I get it though, they have been around longer than almost anyone else in the craft scene, but are still evolving and brewing excellent beer.

I was there for the All Star Game a couple weeks back. They released Slammin' Bones and Tha Green Monsta. There was no line. Probably wasn't a big release. I'm guessing those are sours. Unlike Sandra, I thought Slammin Bones was very good. I'm not a huge fan of hefes or kolsch's but they had each and both were both great. Also had another IPA at the ASG called Hops for Teacher that wasn't a NE IPA but was good. I think the place is legit.

sorry forgot it's a closed group.

Says:

J. Wakefield Brewing.
June 10 · Miami, FL
Line status as of two hours ago. Still can't believe this line started yesterday at around 11pm. Anyone not in their chairs is for sure hanging out in the share tents, so all is good.

Not sure if this is the same line but someone posted this:
