Pro Football Talk reported Saturday that the injunction delaying Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott's six-game suspension will remain in place until the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals rules on his petition for a rehearing.

That means Elliott will be eligible to play until the petition "is filed and resolved," according to Pro Football Talk.

I'm SO glad I wasted all that FAAB money on both Morris and DMC now.

I guess everyone missed it because of the game. The news came out during the LSU game. Well, at the end.

This could potentially make it even worse if his suspension is only delayed 3-4 weeks

Petitions for rehearings generally are decided pretty quick. In Louisiana you have to file for the rehearing within 7 days of the judgment and the court doesn't have to reconsider the entire argument. In other words their ruling could just be not to grant the rehearing.

I don’t have any legal expertise so just thinking in FF terms Whatever happens, still not close to being over. Especially at the next CBA. THAT is going to affect the regular season.

Me too. I'm a McFadden owner btw so take what I say with a grain of salt. I just read the article in espn and it looks like for fed court they have 14 days to file for the rehearing. Still not the long and drawn out process that is hearing an appeal. If it goes back to the New York courts they may be under the precedent set in the deflategate case since it was decided in the second circuit. But it seems crazy that they would not grant an injunction while they at least consider the arguments. If he serves his suspension and then they end up ruling in his favor it's not like he can get those games back.

PFT is flat out wrong. The Fifth Circuit vacated the preliminary injunction. Zeke is currently suspended and will be going forward unless the Fifth circuit recalls its mandate (highly unlikely) or the New York court grants a new TRO.

Zeke has 14 days to petition for rehearing, but the Fifth has a internal procedure to essentially make the judgment effective immediately (mandate isssues) when there is dismissal for subject matter jurisdiction. Long story short: Zeke can still ask for rehearing, but he is suspended until rehearing is actually granted.

So I shouldn't have gone back and picked up Breida and dropped dmac after I dropped Breida to pick up dmac?

Or is it Morris?

This is a shite thread

Actual article title is
quote:

NFLPA believes Ezekiel Elliott remains eligible to play, for now

We know that is not true based on what the court just ruled.

Just because the parties have an option of filing for a rehearing doesn't mean the court is going to put the injunction in place again to wait for that
