BTW, I completed the poll, but it sprang to an advertisement when I finished so I'm not sure if it went through.

I like that option as well. Already did the survey though.

splitting up OPS into OBP and SLG pretty pointless IMO

total bases could work i guess

You do realize that SLG is just the rate value of TB?

I think I'd rather have a solid number with total bases rather than a percentage with SLG.

Survey done.

TB is a good category in a 6x6, imo. Also Holds almost definitely has to be used in a league this big. There aren't enough quality closers for a 20-team league if you're only counting saves, so using Holds would open up the RP position.

Using the "solid number" leads to streaming...especially in a 20 team league where there will be several low end disposable players. You go with ratios to avoid that. It's why in TDBL we changed Ks to K/9.

Thanks BIll James. I was responding to Redd's suggestion, though.

Subtracting OPS and adding OBP and SLG just to reach a 6th hitting cat is kind of pointless, though?

R/HR/RBI?

There wont be shite to stream in this league if it's 20 teams with deep rosters

Better than adding TB. OBP is the true BA and SLG just captures 2bles and 3ples.

There will be bats on waivers that are playing when your guys are having off days...that's all that matters.

Streaming is part of the game. Limiting weekly transactions would keep that under control.

slugging is TB/AB

It's easily fixable by using ratios...compiling through streaming is part of the game for mickey mouse leagues.

I've always preferred quality over quantity which is why I'd prefer SLG to TB just like I'd prefer k/9 to k's. It's not a dealbreaker or anything though.

When comparing cumulative vs. ratio stats I usually agree that streaming could be an issue, but isn't it harder to stream for offensive categories (outside of steals)?

Yeah, it rewards 2B and 3B.

My thoughts on the hitting cats is this. You want to try and make as many different "types" of players valuable. I know some of these are also batting order dependent

Runs- Base running/speed & getting on base
RBI's- Power
SB- Baserunning/speed
HR - Power
OBP- getting on base

TB or SLG also lean heavy on power guys. The top 10 in slg % is going to look a lot like the top 10 in HR.

If you did 2B though, this gives a bigger value to guys who have power/speed. This top 10 list is definitely different from the top 10 in HR list.
