you could always split it into 2 days

Then it would be even less likely to get everyone together.

I think you would have to split the snake too. Its probably a 4 hour+ snake draft

You could always auction the first X # of rounds and pick up with a snake from there.

The difference between the first few players and the #17-20 players is so much larger than the gap between #21-24 & #37-40 it puts teams behind the 8 ball IMO.

Redd and I discussed this. It would be a good solution, but the mechanics of auction drafts are still tough. RTsports barely can run a 12 person one without problems.

I would want to live draft the first portion at least. I think a slow draft would be good for later rounds and minor league draft.

Most everyone seems fairly active. It could work as long as that is the case and everyone gives an email so they can be contacted if absent for a while.

Obviously, the sooner the rest of the league details and owners are nailed down, the better chance it would have to work.

Agreed.

I see no purpose for a live/online draft these days.

I just emailed CBS about the lineup locking issue and this is what I got back.

quote:

The variation of the lineup deadline feature that we offer for football commissioner is exclusive to this product because the NFL schedule is limited to one day of multiple matchups at different intervals. If you’ve played Fantasy football on our site, I’m sure you’ve noticed how the traffic on our site on Sundays can cause the site to be sluggish or occasionally unresponsive.

Over the last few years, we have improved upon this tremendously. In large part it is because the amount of demands put on the system are limited to only once a week. We simply do not have the amount of server space to handle the kind of traffic that would allow multiple lineup deadlines per day, every day during the six months of a baseball season and still provide reliable, easy access to the site at the high quality our users have come to expect and rightfully demand.

Until we feel that we can upgrade our resources to handle that kind of continuous, high-end traffic at those intervals day-in, day-out without interfering with the quality of access, I expect that we will not make changes to the lineup feature for Fantasy Baseball.

Thank you for continuing to make CBSSports.com your Fantasy destination. Please reply to this email should you have additional concerns or more details to provide for updating your question.

Have a great season,

Commish Jennifer

That is the same exact email i have received for the past 6 years now. No shite.

The only difference is that it's been a different whore's name at the bottom of it each year.

I mean, in reality, we can hammer out the league and start drafting right after. There is not much that can change the value of players in a dynasty unless the go Oscar Taveras. Injuries arent a huge thing, and they rarely happen in ST anyway.
