People forget that Porcello was a top 10 prospect before he made the majors at age 20.

So it looks like the new SunTrust Park will be a slightly more hitter's than Turner. The orange is Turner Field.

Freeman is going to love that shorter RF.

So.

Dude ran a BAPIP 40 points below his career avg. and cut his wal rate almost in half.

I'm not saying he's gonna be garbage, but im pretty sure we just saw his last CY season.

And you think that will just go away this year?

He puts the ball wherever he wants now. We are looking at a modern day Greg Maddux, for frick's sake.

With holds being part of the equation, it's easy to pick up RP in this league IMO

No doubt. There are tons of holds to be had. Only issue could be a drop in k/9 that you normally get from the above average setup men.

ETA: But it looks like Giraffe is punting k/9 anyway, so that probably won't matter.

right, for some reason actual closers who get saves bring more value than guys who just get holds

though i think people are finally coming around to realizing there is no differnce

There is a little difference... mainly in the way managers use these guys. Your better setup men get used in tied and trailing games while they wait for the save opportunity for the closers.

It's not drastic though.

Your top SV guy in 2016 was Familia with 51... then the 20th best was Cischek/Rodney with 25.

Your top HLD guy in 2016 was Reed with 40 (plus 1 SV)... then the 20th best was a few guys at 23.

I think my RP has what has helped me cash in each of the first two years of this league. Sure as shite ain't been my SP.

I thought it was evident after the first year that RPs play a crucial role in how successful teams were... given how deep the league is and how many ratio categories there are. Very little teams will have an elite staff. Having those dominant RPs imo has been the big difference.

I look at it a little differently.

There were 15 guys with > 30 saves. Only 1 guy with >30 holds.

You can find hold guys on the wire, but they are low volume. And most of the "next in line" save guys are already rostered.

Even tho 1 hold = 1 save. Your save guys are more valuable b/c of the potential volume
