Of course they were. They've just become so indoctrinated to it, they don't even think of it as free stuff anymore. Most liberals hear "free stuff" and they think of ghetto folks on welfare.

If all your friends are crestfallen today, I'd bet that polling them would discover SOLID support for student loan forgiveness........free college........better subsidies for Obamacare.......etc etc.

And, you'd find nearly zero support for simply restricting government program growth to the rate of inflation.

You and your friends want free shite. You just can't bring yourself to admit it.

Oh, not so fast my friend.

I mean yes. They'd know multiple.

But, you can most certainly live in an environment where conservatives are so rare, you think they're basically Big Foot.

free stuff only works with a subset of the population. I am not particularly interested in free stuff. Nor do I think most of my friends that voted for clinton were looking for free stuff.

Note - I'm not trying to apply this to you specifically, but what my general understanding is.

You may not want free stuff, because you have a good education, a good job, and all that jazz. Awesome. I'm legitimately happy for you.

But you realize that not everyone is as fortunate, as does everyone with a sense of empathy. You want to help those with less.

This is where the rub is. How do we encourage and enrich the lesser?

Do we directly help them? Do we try to make certain goods and services more easily obtainable through subsidization?

Do we provide the means to success? Do we create an environment in which those who which to rise above are not hindered from doing so?

This is simplistic, I know. But I want to emphasize that, many times, we all want the same ends. We just have disagreements on the means.

No, they seem to be most upset about the supreme court.

I personally do not want student loan foregiveness (although we do need to address higher ed), nor do I want free college, better obamacare subsidies. I am against paid maternity leave too.

Look at you, in the middle of your contrition, still hopelessly grasping to the idea that people who reject your opinions are stupid.

Men talking about "getting pussy" is a natural occurence that will go on till the end of all times

It seems that no one has ever listened to a group of women talk about their sexual escapades, wants or desires while at a restaurant. Sometimes they can even make me blush.

Democrats have been operating under the assumption that their current demographic breakdown will go on forever and therefore, they just have to wait for whites to become a smaller and smaller percentage

SO much this.

Trump, who made walling out Mexico and deporting illegals (most of whom are hispanic) got 30% of the hispanic vote - vastly exceeding what and (D) or pollster thought possible.

Many Hispanics are at their core religious and conservative with a strong sense of national pride. If Trump curbs illegal immigration and at the same time creates a reasonable, workable immigration system that demographic could easily tilt Republican and utterly destroy what the (D)s thought would be their salvation.

yes, and I would tend to side with the conservative side of this.

I am fine with a social safety net, but it needs to be uncomfortable enough to get them to prefer working.

I wrote this earlier today

quote:

President elect trump has full control - the house, the senate, soon SCOTUS.

Its time for us to reform our welfare state. We need to trim medicare, rejigger social security, address the explosive growth in medicaid and deal with gov't pensions.

If he can make this happen, I will be a very happy camper.

My guess is that it won't happen but I can hope.

Talking about sexual assault, isn't the same as comitting the act. Absent any real proof that he assaulted anyone, all we are left with is bawdy talk.

If this is what you legit think, then I'm just going to have to say you are exceedingly misfrickingguided in supporting the Democratic party.

I mean, Republicans are spenders too..........but frick...........you're the equivalent of the guy who leaves the woman who cheated on him one for his prior girlfriend who cheated on him 100 times.

Dems should shift back to a Jim Webb type Democrat Party. Jim Webb probably would have won. People are sick and tired of the leftist, socialist, politically correct sjw stuff that Obama shifted the party to. The Democrat party has lost its way. It has been hijacked by a bunch of lunatics.
