of our 2nd round pick this year.

These players were all available when we selected. In this scenario we keep both our 4th round choices since I have us grabbing a NT in round 2.

Just for the heck of it.

1. Kenny Vacarro S Texas
2. Jonathan Hankins NT Ohio St
3. Terron Armstead OT Arkansas Pine-Bluff
4. Ryan Nassib QB Syracuse
4. Quinton Patton WR La Tech
5. Brandon Jenkins DE/OLB Florida St
6. Rufus Johnson DE/OLB

Not sure they would have drafted Johnson in rnd 6 since they take Jenkins in rnd 5, but at that point he seems like as good a risk as anyone else.

I know, :csb:

Yeah, plus I like Jenkins more than Hankins. Payton may have been full of shite but he said of the group of 9 players he liked most that were available to start the 2nd day, Jenkins, Armstead, and Wheaton (WR selected by the Steelers) were his favorite.

The Saints had him rated as the 31st best prospect in the draft. It's not out of the question that they would use the extra 4th rounder to develop a QB prospect for the future.

Why not? We don't have a legit backup imo. Create one.

lets be real, if drew goes down we are fricked. THere is no backup we can ride even enough to get by. spending any picks on a player that is only there as a band aid once we've been gutted is useless.

very short-sighted viewpoint. Sometime soon Loomis and Payton will want to pick up a good young QB (not an UDFA), and begin grooming him for real (as compared to the practice run they did with Chase Daniel).

Think about it- they got Chase ready to play at an acceptable level after a couple years (presumably), and he wasn't drafted. Drew will eventually get old, and you're gonna want a good replacement ready, ala Rodgers following Favre.

My guess is Drew will be done around 36-37, and so you are gonna start picking your spot soon. This year the way guys dropped, if we had extra picks, it would have been worth a look.

You don't draft a replacement 4 years out when you have one of the worst defenses in history.

Its pointless to waste a draft pick on a qb that you don't expect to start till 5-6 years down the road. I'm all for drafting a guy when Brees is a year or two from retiring but it's still too early

A lot of QB's nowadays can come in fresh and play well if you put the pieces there for them or even to rebuild. Look at RW, RG3, luck, etc.

You also get the bad side of throwing a QB to the lions, but it's proven there's no need to "sit a QB forever" it worked for rodgers. Maybe sit for a year or 2, but 4-5 is definitely pushing it.
