so you'd take jose calderon over irving?

here are the top 10 pgs by PER

1. cp3
2. parker
3. westbrook
4. irving
5. lowry
6. calderon
7. curry
8. bledsoe
9. walker
10. sessions

all teh bolded guys are scoring points

bledsoe is removed b/c he's a backup

so you have cp3 or calderon

Anthony Davis has the 7th best PER among all PFs this season and is 30th overall.

Irving clocked in a 23 in PER last season (a shortened one at that)

Both are nice players. The whole "this position is more important than that one" when it comes to championship teams is stupid. Good teams win championships, not elite PGs or C

Plus, Davis is still growing, is 19, and larger players tend to peak later. Add all that in, and it's fairly spine-tingling to think what his peak will be.

This is ignoring the injuries he's dealt with to this point.

That's why I think that comparing AD and his upside to any PG is useless.

they don't allow for the same efficiencies and hog the ball too much, basically

i don't know about that. nash's suns were pretty efficient. paul has insane offensive efficiency numbers.

i think it's more about relying too heavily on the singular talents of a paul/nash that gets teams into trouble.

cp3 will need to become more of a scorer in the playoffs if the clips want to win it all

definitely agree. and i don't know if he can do it post knee injury.

Right.

Garnett, for instance, didnt record double digit rebounds or average 20ppg until his 4th season despite playing almost 40mpg. Then he went on a 9 year stretch of 10+ rpg (led league 4 times) and 20+ppg

A guy like Duncan came into the league beasting, but he was also a 4 year guy at Wake.

Davis will get there. Anyone who says otherwise is wrong.

Lord, yes.

I was asked if I was sorry the Hornets did not draft Lillard.

It is a fair question by someone who does not follow either team given the hype machine. It was easy to answer.

I have high confidence in Davis.

My long-term comparison has been Duncan more than Garnett. I'll take either. Time will tell.

In the short-term, Duncan is not a good comparison for the reasons you stated.

Irving may end up bring great. Davis has a chance to be in that level below the conversation for best ever.

All bullshite aside, I agree with the majority of this. Honestly, his offensive game could also evolve like Amare's. Hard to say now.

Come on, man. It's the dude's first year in the NBA. Realistically, you can't ask for much more for him. I think he's been playing pretty damn well and the "fans" who voted in this poll are retarded.
