Tell me about this place. Thanks.

Might want to get in there before the giant salvinia takes over. I hear it's on its way to Bistineau levels.

Is the bass fishing any good?
Posted on 5/2/17 at 6:55 am to Janky
yes the bass fishing is good. I only focused on bream and perch while fishing there but it's a good bass fishery. You won't catch many wallhangers but lots of 2-4 pounders.
The white perch and bream fishing can be second to none when it's on. It's become alot more popular in the last decade and the fishing pressure has increased. Lots of boat traffic on weekends.

There are no fish in the complex. Go to Henderson. Seriously, great at times, depends on water level and time of year.

Is it fishing traffic or pleasure boaters/jet skis?

Lot of bass tournaments in the summer. I fish only on weekdays. Much more pleasant. The good thing is, for most it is a bitch to get there due to bad roads from the South. Makes for less traffic.

This has become evident by increase in price of property/camps in that area.

quote:LOL, it's all fishing. Don't go alone your first 5 times. It's a winding maze of bayous connected to a big shallow cypress lined lake then a channel cut to an old river oxbow(Larto).

We used to kill the crappie on Larto back in the 90's but my old man said they built some damn and screwed it up.

Not exactly the best roads coming from the north either.

I'm not sure, just remember my dad fussing about something the Corp Of Engineers built which changed the fishing. Was probably in the 80's / 90's (I'm Old) but was a kid when we used to fish there.

The Corp built the diversion canal and weir which prevents backwater from restocking the lake like it did in the '70's. However, there's still enough backwater during high water periods for a decent influx of fish. Average bass fishing but white perch can be great at times.

So, that being said, I was there when the canal was put in. Seen the stock laws change when I was but a whipper snapper. Moved away to work for the varmits who messed it all up. Now, Im back living next to it all and aiming to get back into the perch fishing. Seems I never had as good a handle on figuring them out and would like to get my hands on a real hand made map of it. Got one fine map of the Saline at Campti, just hoping there is one of our saline lake. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
