"Self-reported gun ownership" which unfailingly will show lower numbers than actual.
What, in your esteemed view, makes them more likely to show lower numbers in more recent years rather than past year? If the poll is biased one way, but consistently biased that way for 50 years, we can (and do) correctly say that gun ownership is down.

Incorrect. Gun ownership continues to rise. Gun violence continues to drop. These are both facts, no matter how many unrelated links or charts you post.

I will add that often the proponents of gun rights attempt to misuse numbers in ways that they know are incorrect. Using 'total' number of guns rather than '% ownership' in the population is one such example.

I'll add that you do the exact same thing. You even provide charts and "studies" based on cherry-picked numbers that you claim support those cherry-picked numbers.
That's the point that you continue to miss/ignore.

Your scenario is similar to the market response to bad liquor.....the person is punished but the other person is dead......
That's how things are today, and it sounds like a problem with the justice system more than anything else. If you think justice isn't served, take that up with your representatives to try to get some judicial reform. As far as guns are concerned, guns don't automatically make people more violent. Violent people who don't show self-control will/should be punished if they act illegally.
quote:It's not asinine at all. See, when I got a gun and a concealed carry permit, I was adding to the "gun population", yet I have not used it other than target practice. I'm an example of more guns without more violence. There are thousands of others just like me out there. There are also countless examples of people who are already not legally allowed to possess firearms using them illegally. That's why we have laws that should be enforced. We already have thousands of laws throughout this country that limit firearm ownership and use in one way or another. Perhaps enforcement-reform should be looked at instead of punishing the law-abiding citizens that are not the problem.
Have all the guns you want my friend.......but your thinking that the more guns there are the less they will be used is asinine

Politics. When gun-control advocates are barking their loudest like the retarded little dogs they are (especially after a major shooting tragedy) the polling changes quickly. Even a low-grade troll like yourself can easily observe major shifts after the 1986 GCA Revision, 1994 AWB, the Sandy Hook shooting, Pulse nightclub etc. Do you honestly believe 14% of gun owners simply stopped owning guns in less than a year after the AWB was passed or rather 14% just stopped admitting they owned guns to a polling organization? I know you aren't terribly bright but even you can understand the reality here. Same goes for polling involving the support of broader gun-control measures, they spike one way after a tragedy then inexorably correct themselves as time goes on.
