What should I do with my Nexus 5x?

It was doing what everyone else's 5x seemed to be doing, restarting on it's own more and more often. I bought it Feb 9th on last year so I was planning on waiting for it to get stuck in bootloop before sending it in to LG to either have them replace the mainboard or send me a G5, which they have done for many other owners, but about a week ago it suddenly stopped resetting. Now I'm worried if I send it in they'll just send it back to me and I'll be without a decent phone for 3 weeks or so for no reason.

Should I send it in anyway? Try to sell it on craigslist? The 1 year warranty is about to expire.

I doubt they'll even test it, to be honest.

So you think they would just assume it's having the same problems as the other one and replace the mainboard? Is it possible that LG somehow snuck in a software patch that helped to alleviate or at least delay the issue?

Mine has been working a little better over the last couple of weeks. It's still susceptible to freezing but now its usually once every 2 or 3 days as opposed to 8 times a day. Still not acceptable but a lot better than it was.

My newest issue is my power button is becoming mushy. I might need to try and clean it out with some alcohol. Probably has some dust/lent in there that is causing it to not be clicky.

I must be in the minority. I haven't had a single hiccup with mine. I'm rooted and running a 7.1.1 ROM.

See I figured this had to be at least in part a software issue. It made zero sense that it could be a solely a hardware issue if the problem only started after a software change.

It makes sense if the software upgrade required the hardware to overwork itself and caused the solder to mess up.

Mine bootlooped right after New Year's. I bought from Project Fi, so Google replaced it immediately with a refurbed 5x. That one never bootlooped, but it was laggy, would randomly reboot, browser would crash etc. Called Google again and they wanted to send another replacement. I refused and requested a refund. They had to "escalate" my request. I was transferred around 3 times and they kept trying to send me a replacement. I kept refusing and asking for a refund. They finally complied and credited back my credit card full purchase price. frick LG and that piece of shite phone.

You think running a custom kernel helped?

I havent the slightest clue really. And i don't have any theories of my own. I'm just repeating theories i've read on the nexus 5x subreddit.

I bought mine with Project Fi in November. The phone operates fine for me, though the screen did get a line crack without much effort which I'm not happy about. Thankfully, I bought it with a credit card that will cover the cost of fixing the screen, I just have to jump through their hoops.

Kind of hard to complain with my phone bill going down from >$70 with Verizon to $40-$50 now.

I've never had a problem with my 5x. It's over a year old now. Running 7.1.1. Honestly still find the battery life to be fine too. For a $250 phone I'd call that a pretty stellar value.
