Diamond Earrings, is this a good deal?

Would appreciate advice from anyone who is familiar with diamonds.
Is this a legitimate deal? This is the exact size/cut the wife wants. Much cheaper than local jewelry stores.
Also, there's no sales tax or shipping so that's the out the door price.

Specs on these are
Color- I
Clarity- SI2
Carat- 0.98
Compare it to what you'd find at Kay, Zales, etc for the specs.
I've heard good things about Blue Nile and James Allen.

Blue Nile is great. Just educate yourself on diamonds including dimensions, look at the GIA reports, and you can get awesome deals.

Do you think that specific pair is a good deal?

Clarity isn't great and the cut isn't either.

For that price though is it decent?
To me a pair of earrings doesn't need to be top of the line clarity like an engagement ring? Idk

Have you looked at a local jeweler at a pair with those specs? It's on the lower end, but like you said, it's not for a ring. If you seen those specs and think they look good on earnings, go for it. Blue Nile is extremely legit. I know several people who have bought from them and been more than satisfied. I personally wanted a local jeweler that I have a relationship with for maintenance, or any repairs, etc.

The price is not bad at all. Ask if they can send you actual video of the earrings or the diamonds. The video will allow you to see fire of the diamonds. Is hard to judge, by specs at time, if the diamonds are a good buy. I'm guessing the diamond are GIA certified.
James Allen has video of the diamond in motion at 20x magnified. Try putting these spec in James Allen and compare the price.

I don't like blue nile's settings. If it were me, I would buy the diamonds from blue nile and have them set by a local jeweler.
On Blue Nile, you can get 0.5 ct. diamonds for $800-900 with:
Very Good cut
Excellent Polish
G or F Color
VVS1 or VVS2 clarity
No fluorescence
0.5 Ct.
0.5 Ct
Not sure of ideal dimensions for cushion cut, but these are much better stones than the ones in that set. I would not buy a set where I cannot see the reports. Buy individual stones and get a cheaper setting from a local jeweler for a much nicer looking pair of earrings.

Are you sure she wants earrings? That's a nice trip to Europe (if you shop airfare sales). I'd rather spend 10 days abroad than have a pair of earrings.

Blue Nike is solid for diamonds. Unless you know a personal jeweler or have connections to one you will be better off buying from blue nile than other local shops. Also you can look around for promo codes and will be able to get some additional money off. These vary depending on the time of the year.

If i but 2 .5ct diamonds online, any idea what the cost would be at a jewelry store to have them put into a setting of 14k white gold?
Also, can any diamond be set in an earring setting? Obviously if but 2 that are closely symmetrical with almost same measurements.

Blue diamond is great, but be careful. Much of their inventory is diamonds and settings that don't show well in brick and mortar stores.
