Anybody know the story with the dude who walks down Old Hammond everyday?

I had to drive down Old Hammond to go to work every day for about three years. Most days twice a day(there and back for work and lunch). I noticed this middle-aged gentleman walking up and down Old Hammond literally almost every single day. Sometimes twice. Oftentimes holding an umbrella. I thought it odd, but he looked fairly normal, so I just assumed he was walking for cardiovascular reasons. Like recovering from a heart attack or something. No big deal. I wished him well.
Recently, however, I was in a big group, and the topic of conversation led to an area where this gentleman was brought up. And to a man(or woman), almost everyone had noticed him. I thought I was maybe the only one. Anyhoo, we got off topic, but someone mentioned that his story was featured in some publication recently, but I couldn't find it. This is certainly not meant to embarrass this gentleman or make fun of him in any way, but my curiosity is getting the better of me. If you know him and this is inappropriate, let me know and I'll delete. However, I am now fascinated by what his story may be.

I met some guy the other day on south foster who says he walks 20 miles every day. Kinda fits your description. Said he used to walk to lsu and now goes to the mall and walks in and around there. Nice guy. Just said he likes walking and talking. Wonder if its him.

Which part of Old Hammond? I have a relative that walks up and down Old Hammond between drusilla and old Jefferson daily.
If you're talking about him, he just does it for excercise. He carries an umbrella when it's forecast to rain. As for what he does, he's a lawyer.

Is this the guy that always seems to have a mailman outfit on? I remember that guy walking around Sherwood/Broadmoor/Old Hammond in the late 90s early 2000s.
I still see him when I visit walking around.

I've seen him. Doesn't wear athletic apparel. I always thought it was strange. Like he was a runner for the mob.

See him on Sherwood every morning. He has been walking that way for years. Think he works at the post office on Coursey.

I know exactly who you are talking about. I don't think he is a lawyer, but I'm not 100% sure. I thought he said that he did contracting/construction work.

He just walks for excercise and to shop. My granny lives on Old Hammond. Been seeing him for a while. And lol how did you make a post that long wondering why a guy walks down the street?

There are 2 walkers. One is really skinny and walks on the east side of Airline. He is either a mailman or he has only one outfit in his wardrobe. The dude I'm talking about walks west of Airline. I typically see him anywhere from Drusilla to Jefferson, so I'm assuming he's the guy the guy above me is referring to.

Medium height thin/lanky looking white guy, mid to late 50's with ear length bowl cut and glasses? I think I know who you're talking about.

The guy I'm talking about I've seen him countless times in a post office uniform. I'm pretty sure he works at the post office on Old Hammond near Sharp/Cedercrest. If it's the same guy, he lives in Broadmoor and cuts through the ditch to get to Old Hammond faster (used to do it as a kid). How do I know? He lived a street over from me when I was living with a buddy.

The dude in the mailman outfit is Marty...
His mother and my grandmother were friends....
He is alittle different to say the least....
He got mailman outfit from post office because he was a fill in for a period of time and may still be, after years of walking the roads....
He can't get a drivers license I don't believe....
