Are there any decent places in Houston to get good New Orleans style Po-Boy bread.

Calliope's near downtown used to have it, but I can't remember if they closed or changed names. I think they have a few locations.

There are plenty of places in Houston that have decent French bread....but I doubt it's going to be exactly what you're looking for.

Best bet is to find a Vietnamese bakery(Alpha Bakery comes to mind) and buy their bread.

Before I discovered that almost any Viet place that serves Bahn Mi will sell you some bread, I've purchased some pretty good French bread from The Boot in The Heights. They're not in the bread business so they don't give it away but they will sell you a loaf that they claim is Leidenheimer, wrapped in cellophane and shipped every few days. If it isn't Leidenheimer, it's definitely passable. In the end though, I'd argue that the Viet French Bread is better, cheaper, and more readily available than anything else you'll find in Houston for a po-boy...
