My wife has asthma and swears by Kirkland's Aller-tec (Cetirizine HCL) allergy pills. It costs 16 bucks for 365 tablets. By contrast, Zyrtec is $26.62 for 70 tablets (on Amazon). Allergy season is upon us, so any of you allergy sufferers might want to check this out.

Has anybody had any bad experiences with Kirkland generic OTC drugs? How about any other great deals that you want to recommend?

I use a lot of local honey. My grandma always told me it helps allergies.

Funny you should mention that. I tried to buy some local honey for my wife last week, when we were at the Tulip festival. It was the good stuff, with the comb in it. That grosses her out. I love honey and peanut butter sandwiches with a big hunk of honey comb on it...

I use the Kirkland brand Zyrtec every day as well. It works like a charm and the price is fantastic.

Hmm, may look into those. My wife is allergic to pecan and guess what... We have 2 trees in the back yard. She keeps allergy med companies in business this time of year.

Edit: the honey trick didn't work for her.

It's gonna be the same active ingredient. Go with the cheaper version.

Well crap. I have been paying $20 for 24 of the Walgreen's brand. Off to Costco I go.

The price I quoted was for the regular Zyrtec clone, not the Zyrtec D. I'm not sure what the Aller-tec D costs, but I'm sure it's pretty cost-effective.

I use their version of mucinex as well. I ordered off of Amazon, but it is the Kirkland brand. I think it was a twin pack of 200 count bottles for very cheap.

I buy the generic Zyrtec at Sams, it's a similar type deal, around $20 for a years supply. I don't notice any difference with it and the brand name. I tell my patients to do the same.

Most generics are made at the same facilities and just get a different wrapper slapped on the bottle. For something as benign as allergies I have no problem using generics to save some money.

The local honey myth is just that: a myth. It's an old wives' tale.

Now you ruined it, it works if they believe it.

shite is strong. If I take it too many days in a row, it gives me headaches. Works great though.
