Yes, another Harris vs Jennings thread...

I just don't get the Jennings needs to start because he is the better game manager. If we are going to have yet another great rushing game (good O-line & LF at RB), and we will only have to pass maybe 35% to 40% percent of the time, why wouldn't you want the better passer starting? Harris can hand the ball off just as good as Jennings. Not to mention the added benefit of Harris' scrambling ability or designed run calls. If Harris doesn't start this season, I'll be some pissed.

Can't we at least wait till baseball is over for this nonsense?

Are you talking to me or CLM?

We could wait, but I have no patience. Plus I'm not so dumb that I can't multitask.

We shall see.
I felt like Jennings would start no matter what, but things are looking up for Harris getting the nod. He is the more talented guy, so if he has everything together I can see Miles giving him the job.

What are you smoking? Jennings couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat.

Jennings is elite at handing the ball off!

QB makes reads and adjust to get in correct play even if only handing off. Not as simple as you would like it to be.

Harris is going to start, and he's going to light up the SEC.

what a bunch of baloney. His running ability is a big plus. Puts a lot of strain on defenses trying to contain him when he drops back to pass. Nothing more frustrating for a defense than getting great coverage and a good pass rush but then having the QB breaking containment and getting positive yards or even a big gain on what should have been an incompletion or even a sack.

Maybe he will be the starter, but I don't think it's the foregone conclusion you're making it out to be.

You are not knowledgable enough to understand. I mean no offense, but if you think a game manager is not needed in the running game you just don't understand football.
Like almost everyone on here I see Harris as having more upside, and I hope he grasps the playbook well enough to be the man. But I sure do see the necessity of grood game management.

Please find ONE quote from anyone on this board or a quote from a player or coach who has stated this.

Then he should probably be a life guard.
That assumption is anecdotal at best but no hard evidence. Harris has hit some long balls but he has also been off the mark. As much as the Ranters on here think their "eye test" proves Harris is the better passer I trust the coaches who see these guys every day in practice making or missing the throws.
We absolutely want the best passer in the game but also someone that can get the offense in the right formation. If you think the QB simply walks up there and hands off to LF without recognizing what the defense is doing then you are delusional and probably the one smoking something. Can BH call the right audible by recognizing the defense and knowing that 92% of the time when their corner is lined up a certain way he is coming on a corner blitz? Does he recognize what he should do in enough time to get everyone where they should be? Can he make the right audible in time?
If it was simply handing the ball off without regard for anything else, then just about anyone could do that. But a "game manager" is not just a handoff person. BH has said repeatedly he is learning the playbook more and that is what he needed to do. Kudos to him and I certainly hope he is ready. More upside? It seems so physically but we shall see. There is enough talent around them that a slight improvement could be monumental for either QB. Knowing that they don't have to put the team on their shoulders just yet is huge for these guys as they develop into the QB that can put the team on their shoulders and win a game.
Remember that unknown QB A.J. McCarron? He didn't even have the starting job at the beginning of the year and many thought Bama would take a step back with him. They brought him along, he managed the game most of the year and then absolutely lit us up on 1/9.
The coaches want to win more than any of us on this board and they will pay the QB that gives us the best chance to win.
I don't mind another Jennings vs. Harris thread. That is what TD is for.

The knowledge of that fact keeps the coaching staff up at night.
Here is an unpleasant fact for you and all of the rest of the bar stool coaching fraternity.
Miles will start the player who he believes gives LSU the best chance to win. Period. He knows more about football than you do.
So get over yourselves.

I am not on the side of either at this point but poor game management can cost you drives, points, momentum, etc... In the Spring Game BH had to call 4 TO's and AJ did not call any. However, if things are adequate on game management skills then I want the better athlete and play maker in the game.
