Seems the Seahawks didn't do much research on Frank Clark's domestic abuse case

Seattle Times Story
Their extensive investigation was asking Frank Clark if he hit her
quote:
Hotel manager Stephanie Burkhardt said the Seattle Seahawks rookie threatened her, saying “I will hit you like I hit her,” following an incident of domestic violence with his then-girlfriend for which Clark was arrested.
According to The Seattle Times, “he pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of persistent disorderly conduct in a plea deal with prosecutors.” As a result, he was fined $250, served only the two days he’d already spent in jail, and did not have a domestic abuse charge on his record.
The Seahawks have gone the route of sticking their fingers in their ears and humming to themselves — they’ve done their own investigation and they don’t be believe he hit anyone (off a football field). So after saying they would not draft someone who put their hands on a woman, it seems like they did just that.
quote:
And of course, they didn’t speak with many key witness. It’s not stated in the article whether they spoke with Burkhardt, who had this to say:
“YES, HE SAID IT,’’ SHE SAID (ABOUT HIS THREATS). “I WOULD NEVER LIE ABOUT SOMETHING LIKE THAT.’’
… “I DON’T KNOW WHY THEY DIDN’T EVEN QUESTION ME ABOUT IT,” BURKHARDT SAID. “HE STRAIGHT UP ADMITTED TO HITTING HER, AND THEY DIDN’T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.’’
quote:
Here’s the account from another witness from that night:
[ONE WITNESS] SAID THE WOMAN ON THE FLOOR INSIDE THE ROOM “WAS DEFINITELY BEAT UP” AND INITIALLY DIDN’T MOVE.
“SHE LOOKED UNCONSCIOUS,’’ [THE WITNESS] SAID. “SHE LOOKED LIKE SHE WAS KNOCKED OUT, AND THEN SHE STARTED TO MOVE SLOWLY.’’

quote:
But the Seahawks made him the 63rd overall pick in the draft, saying team officials had conducted an extensive investigation of their own and felt confident that the 6-foot-2, 277-pound Clark had not struck his girlfriend. The team acknowledged on Monday that their investigation did not include interviews with witnesses other than Clark.
The police report describing the incident quotes Diamond Hurt, then 20, saying Clark punched her in the face. Hurt’s younger brothers are quoted saying the same thing.
When Babson and Colie found her, Hurt “was just laying there,’’ Babson said. “She looked like she was unconscious to me.
“The kids were saying, ‘He killed my sister!’?’’
Colie added that Hurt “was on the ground, curled up and holding her head and stuff.’’
Both women gave written statements to police via email the following day. But they say they never heard back from anybody about the case until The Seattle Times contacted them on Monday.
They remain perplexed as to why there were no follow-up calls to them by police.

They will end up cutting him before he plays a down. Was the guy a top 5 talent? Seahawks looking pretty bad here.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said they understand the sensitivity of the domestic violence problem in the NFL and the concerns people have about players involved.
“Of course we’re concerned,’’ Carroll said. “We’re very sensitive to that. That’s why we had to do such a thorough job so we could clearly come to the right decision. We would not have done this, realizing there is going to be the questions and the scrutiny, if we didn’t know it was the right thing.”

Didn't he break into a dorm room and steal a laptop while at Michigan as well? He just seems like a huge piece of shite. He seems super talented, but I don't understand why they'd spend a 2nd round pick on a guy like this

no surprise from me the Hawks would take a guy like this

Not a surprise Seattle picked him.
I'm surprised that they took him in the 2nd fricking round though. This guy is a POS and nobody was gonna take him before the 4th or 5th. Early round talent, sure, but his off the field issues are pretty significant and with the way the NFL is going, most teams probably removed him off their draft board.
But not Seattle though... They did such a "thorough investigation" on Clark that they were comfortable enough to take him in the 2nd round. Good call Seattle.

Saints do bountygate and the Seahawks are the bad guys?

Need a ladder to help you grasp at them straws, baw?

Never said they were bad guys... Just made an extremely ignorant decision on Frank Clark. Especially when they come out and say they did a thorough investigation on the situation and felt comfortable taking Clark in the 2nd. And then they say they didn't talk to any witnesses or anything like that, all they did was ask Clark if he hit her. Yeah, really thorough investigation.
Look at how the NFL handles domestic abuse now. 1st offense = 6 game suspension without pay, 2nd offense = banned from the NFL. The NFL is taking a hard line with this stuff now, and considering how prevelent it is they should be taking a hard line.
Plus, it was stupid to take Clark in the 2nd when they could have gotten him in the 4th.

That's ridiculous considering how petty some of these DV charges are and how easy it is to get an arrest.
Now if they want to say an assault charge against a domestic partner equals a 6 game suspension, that's fine. But it should only be after a final adjudication.

For the most part, that's what they will do. They will judge each case separatly considering on the severity of the case, but they will allow the legal process take its course for the most part. If it's a severe case like Hardys, they won't wait for the legal process to take its course.

I don't really understand this ordeal. He was expected to be a late draft pick/free agent pick, so he was expected to be on a team, so what's the issue?
Unless I' way off on the details, he's already pleaded guilty, so there's nothing more to come of this.
Was he supposed to never play on a team ever, what was the appropriate amount of time that had to pass before someone could take him and no one would lose their mind over it?
