Roofus the Doofus has been on them for about 8 years. He gets a pill in the morning with breakfast and one in the evening with dinner.
Just hide it in a meatball of soft dog food before you leave in the morning. No hassle.

yeah i would have to hand feed her and make sure she took it. Cant just leave it because she is in the back yard with my male lab "who weighs 150lbs and eats everything in sight"

My dachshund is on phenobarbital as well. He never had more than 2 per year. We are hoping it doesn't get worse.

I just force my dogs mouth open with my fingers, drop the pill way back, and give it a quick poke with my finger and it works like a charm (I know that sounds bad/ gross/#nohomo)

I just looked back at the dates of my dogs seizures in relation to his flea and tick medication. 3 weeks after giving him a dose of flea and tick meds, he had his first seizure. His 2nd and 3rd seizure came 3 days after taking the flea and tick meds the next time. What the frick?

If you can't give your dog her meds twice a day, ask your vet about Potassium Bromide.

What flea med do you use?

Our dachshund was on phenobarbital for several years. We eventually figured out that the seizures were caused by pesticides (when exterminator sprayed the apartment/house yard, and when we used flea shampoo). Slowly got him off the meds and didn't let pesticides near him. No problems after that and he lived to the age of 17.

My dog started having them at the end of her life and we tried every med they had but they didn't help at all, the side effects just made things worse. Eventually we had to put her down because they got more and more frequent until she was having a few a day. She was really old though so that may have had a lot to do with it. I have no idea how meds will work for your dog, and I wish my story was better, but good luck man!

No experience with seizure meds, but my bulldog does not like pills. I can put it in a meatball or in a balled up piece of cheese, and more often than not, he will eat the food and spit out the pill. Now I just open his mouth, push it into his throat, close his mouth, and rub his throat. Quick and easy.

We give our shepherd phenobarbital twice a day. They all but stopped her seizures. We give her one in the morning before work and one before we go to bed.
