Will Oregon go the way of Nebraska at some point?

I don't think they'll have quite as bad a talent gap due to better weather and being closer to CAli, but the fact remains is that Oregon is far from a hot bed of talent.

Will they eventually take a slide back? I know they have Nike money, but Nebraska puts money into their facilities too. Will they eventually have a bad QB and have a few bad years?

The thing about Oregon is that if they lose some games, their luster comes off really fast to recruits.

No, they'll never be as good or as bad as Nebraska

Oregon is still a pretty modern and attractive school for west coast kids. Nebraska is in a barren wasteland.

Inevitably they will. Every program has lean years. It's harder for a school in a talent poor area to bounce back from a bad stretch (CU and Washington are good examples).

Nope, they'll continue to be a top 5 team forever and ever.

My point is...when they inevitably have a down year or two, can they bounce back like an OSU or Bama or UGA can bounce back? Think Richt turning it around after an awful 2010.

Can Oregon do that? I don't know. It's a lot harder for them to keep recruiting when they're not top 5. They're still attractive now, but so was Nebraska and Washington at one point. Washington is probably a better comparison.

OU has so much money and nike backing them that i think they can bounce back from lean years.

Of course they will fall back at some point but i don't think they become nebraska and just waste away forever.

this. nebraska in the 90s was better than oregon, or almost any program for that matter, can even dream of being. now, many people including myself, feel that due to changing landscapes in college football, nebraska can never get back to where they were in the 70s-90s, which is a top 5 program.

Oregon may not win a national title ever, but they are now a national brand, and will be a top 5 team/program for the foreseeable future, thanks to phil knight and nike.

not this crap again. Nebraska didn't become good in the 70's.

what about my statement was false? they won their first national title in 70, and their second in 71. They were good in the 60s as well. i said oregon will never be as good as nebraska was, nor will they be as bad(in the near future) as nebraska has become.
