Over the last few years the city was really hitting its stride. New hospitals, tech boom, influx of young professionals, gentrification of neighborhoods like Marigny, Bywater, Freret etc. But in the last 9-12 months there seems to be more and more crime in the tourist areas like the quarter. I have heard there is a group/gang of young teenagers near the quarter committing a large amount of the crime in the area. Don't know how true that is but my cousin is former NOPD and that is what he has heard from someone still on the force.
