Solved the smoke issue when searing meat

Nothing revolutionary, but I finally solved the problem of smoking up my house and setting off the smoke detectors.
I picked up one of these babies from Amazon for 37 bucks, and a four pack of butane canisters from my Asian mart for 6 bucks. Used it for the first time in my garage last night and was able to get a fantastic sear without any indoor smoke. I even had the heat cranked up higher than I would have in the house for great results. The Iwatani stove puts out a torrid 12,000 BTUs.
I've heard people here being advocates of searing in a very hot cast iron skillet, but needing to open all windows and doors. Obviously, this is no revelation, but I'm not sure what took me so long to pick up one of these. Will be great for any loss of power during hurricanes too.

Buy a grill with a searing burner on it. My dad got one and it's the tits. It's a must have on my next grill purchase.

Another good choice and I've had one of those in the past, but I'm exclusively charcoal right now.

My mom used a similar thing to cook bacon, except she'd do it on the porch. We lived in the sticks, so my school bus stop was 1/5 mile from our house. I swear there were days when the wind would be just right that I'd catch a whiff of it about halfway home and get excited. I loved BLT nights.

I just put my cast iron on my crawfish burner outside. It works great, but this could be a good indoor cooking option.

Chimney full of charcoal, grate directly on top of chimney (or cast iron on chimney.)
Can't beat it.
Can't beat it.

Best way to sear anything. Tuna is the bomb like that.
