Should I buy a 4 wheeler if it does not have a title? Are there ways to confirm it's not hot?

I personally would not. I bought one without a ttitle and it was a pain in the arse to sell it.

You can call up the DMV and have them run the Vin# to check for stolen reports or leins I beleive. On older ATV's it's not that big of a deal without a title, when I see a 2012 model listed with no title I just assume someone quit paying their loan.

There is absolutely no reason why you need a title to a 4 wheeler in LA.

If it has a serial number, then it can be traced by it if stolen. Not sure where you are in life, but do you feel lucky?

I've bought and sold dozens of motorcycles over the years. Mine rarely have titles because I usually buy out of state and don't pay taxes, so no title. Bill of sale will usually take care of it.

Complete bullshite having to have a title on a dirtbike or 4 wheeler.

If you're referring to my Big Bear on craigslist, I can assure you it's not stolen and yes you should buy it

This. But if you just want a title the Dmv can duplicate the original for under $30. My wife worked at the dmv for years.
