This question is open to anyone. TIA for the help.
How deep are your beds? Looking to do a small raised bed for tomatoes, cucumbers and maybe some peppers. Plan on going similar to what you have. Just was unsure on the amount of dirt to bring in.

Cold last week killed pretty much everything in mine. Replanted everything on Friday.

Garden hose timer watering advise needed. What settings (how often & how long) would you use for a garden hose timer attached to a soaker hose for watering tomatoes. I'm in N. MS if it makes a difference.

That would depend on your soil conditions and a variety of other factors. Tomatoes need at least an inch of rain per week BUT be careful of overwatering once the fruits set. My soakers run for 1 hour every other day, unless it rains well. Then I don't water for two days after a rain. SO FAR anyway. Just watch your plants, they will tell you if you are over or under watering.

Also, you may know this already, but set your timer for early morning. If I was using a timer, I'd probably set it from about 5:00 to 6:00 a.m.

A better alternative would be a mechanical timer. That's what I use. I turn mine on when I take the dog out in the morning. It shuts off at a preset amount of time. I only use an automatic timer when I will be out of town for a few days.

2 Cherry Tomatos
5 Better Boys
5 Arkansas Travelers
2 Cowhorn Peppers
2 Jalapeno Peppers
2 Snacking Peppers
2 Sweet Banana Peppers
2 Tabasco Peppers
10 Okra
10 Crooked Neck Squash
4 Crimson Sweet Watermelon
4 Jumbo Cantelope
My dirt is good ole Buckshot.
No raised beds. Regular style garden.
22 Rifle works well unless it is deer or rabbits then I just shoo them away so I can hunt them later.

Thanks I'll try the hour every other day depending on weather. Maybe 8ish AM since the wife is showering around 6. Mechanical timer is cheaper but then I would have to remember to set it/turn the water on. I'm wanting more of a set it and forget it unless it rains set up.
