I have both. Muck boots are great for everything except walking in deep gumbo mud that tries to suck the boot off your foot. that is where the lacrosse shines. with what you have said I would get him the lined lacrosses. they are easier to get on and off than the unlined.

I use the Muck Woody Max with Wigwam cold weather wool socks for similar conditions, haven't had cold feet yet while on the stand. Easy to walk in, too. Don't usually traipse thru any crazy mud with them, think Lacrosse is better for that.

I have just the opposite problem. My calves are big and rubber boots are too tight. I wear Danner 800 grams.

Those Burly's with the reinforced chins are sweet. No as tight as the ankle fit green rubbers so they bleed a little.

Someone learn me something about insulated boots

The first thing I'll teach you is not to say "learn me."

I have feet that make taking off laCrosse boots problematic. As a result, mud does not pull my Mucks off one bit.

love my Muck Boots, I have had the "Wetlands" model for about 5 years.

My only gripe (mostly due to my skinny arse legs) is that I sound like a herd of cattle coming through the woods when the top half of the boot hits my leg and springs back, clunking every step.

This.

Skip the Lacrosse and go with Muck. I've had both and the Mucks are wayyyy more comfortable. Your pops will appreciate it.

I also spray my feet with an unscented anti-perspirant. Feet sweating means cold feet. Works for me!

Dang, the discount store boot has come a long way from the Red Balls that killed my feet as a youngster.
