Was 1/9/12 the beginning of the end for Miles?

Will he recover or not? Explain your answer...

No. At least not back to a Championship.

I agree. Do you think we are getting our money's ($4+ mill) worth out of Miles?

Did you expect us to go undefeated?

If he doesn't recover, how long will it take the LSU administration to make a change? what if he can still win 8-10 games a year with no SECCG appearances?

Unequivocally false.

To take away the accomplishments of that regular season because we laid an egg in one game, albeit the most important one, is short sighted.

No. But I didn't expect us to lose the Ole Miss scout team either. And I'm fairly confident in a loss to A&M. Then, I don't know how the team gets up to for Arky. I know Arky is pretty damn bad but our boys are going to be pretty disheartened by that point so I can see Arkansas keeping it close or even pulling out the upset.

I think we have him for 4 more years regardless. Unless he goes almost winless in the SEC he's not going anywhere for a while.

It lit the fuse for a lot of the fan base.

The incoming recruiting classes look promising (if we keep all of them in the fold), but....NO I don't think he recovers....too stubborn and one-dimensional in game planning and then there's the in-game snafus which are not just going to suddenly stop in the future.

If it wasn't for the buyout, he might be in trouble this year.

No, I hope for such things each year but expect it, No. But what I do expect is 4 full quarters of play in every game, we did not get that, although I thought they did against Bama. I can accept, be proud of any team that gives its all, how can you expect more.

WOW!! What an exciting and new topic. Thanks Marlinman. The salary angle was especially intriguing since it is a top hardly ever discussed. It's posts like this that add value to this site.

Undecided. It was definitely a bucket of ice water thrown on the Tiger Nation after what was most definitely a masterful season by the team.

It was an ending that should never have been written that way. If the Tigers had gone down swinging, there would have been disappointment sure. But not devastation. Nobody reasonable would have ever expected this big, bad #1 undefeated team that had already beaten Alabama at home to go down unprepared, without a plan, an answer or even a whimper. But that's what happened, like it or not.

And who do you look to for answers? You look to the head coach. But he had none. In that one game, he spent a lot of chips and to date has not recouped his losses. Then went and lost twice more to Alabama.

All that may yet come back to bite him. There are drums beating in the hills even now.

Using your criteria, we could replace Miles with coaches from any of these schools which have lost 3 or more games in the last 4 years:

oregon, USC, Ole miss, miami, baylor, oklahoma, west virginia, clemson, fla st, florida, texas, nebraska, michigan, georgia, auburn, alabama, virginia tech, missouri, south carolina, and more. Take your pick.

He did but didn't but didn't Copeland is going to drop the ball before crossing the goal line and ZM do the same thing a few plays later.

False. 1/3/07 was the beginning of the end for Miles and every other coach in college football.

Thanks.... Best post of this thread... as college football trends continue to develop, every program has to adjust during each offseason...Miles seems to stay stuck doing the same thing. Cam was a huge improvement in play calling, imagination and execution. Miles simply couldn't teach that, period. I still have problems with huge gaps in recruiting and retaining to team needs, player development, gameday execution, overall team discipline and gameday coaching decisions and lack of adjustments. It just seems there is a lot to criticize with him, but he does it to himself. I've never seen a coach of an elite program screw up on National TV more than once or twice... Miles does it annually.... and he is getting paid $4+ mill/year???
