I don't like the C word. Choking to me would be for a Tour pro to leave a 10 putt 5' short or to chili dip 3 consecutive chip shots. A young player going for his first W is experiencing big time nerves and fears and often times folds under the pressure. That's not choking in my mind. It's normally a learning experience and the next time they handle the situation better.

My nickname for Jimbo is "Clutch".

Furyk did not do enough to win, but he by no means choked. He made some great shots and some clutch putts.

See? There's that word again.

Jim didn't choke. Anyone that thinks he did see the 1996 masters.

The Shark was the first pro to have a doctor certified in the Heimlich manuever with him inside the ropes at majors.

Is there a bigger choke job/sellout in the game of golf right now.
Yes, Sergio.

Getting outplayed is not a choke.
He gets respect from me because he is ALWAYS around.
He seems like an a-hole though. Sometimes with media, sometimes with fans. Though today I am getting sick of guys screaming right after contact with the ball.
You the man! Ba ba booey! Get in the hole!
They are all stupid.

He entered the day with the lead, and shot over par. He finished bogey-bogey. He allowed Duffner to play the last two holes pressure free.
I agree with you choupique. He did the opposite of rising to the occasion.

He also looks like a walking billboard with all of the cheap advertisement all over him.
One reason a player like Furyk has advertisements like that is because he doesn't want to be tied down to one main brand and have to use 10 to 14 of their clubs and a certain type of ball. He can use whatever he wants. This week he had Callaway, Ping, and Titleist in the bag. In the past he has also used many different balls like Taylormade, Callaway, Titleist, and Srixon.
It is actually pretty smart. Rory Mcilroy had to ditch all of his Titleist clubs and balls because of Nike. Tell me who is the sell out now...

I don't want to blame any 1 person for the Ryder Cup but little Jim Furyk deserves to be blasted.

The USA lost 8 of the 12 Sunday singles. Just because Furyk and Stricker were 2 of the last 3 doesn't mean they deserve any more blame than Bubba Watson, Web Simpson, Keegan Bradley, Phil Mickelson, Brandt Snedeker, or Matt Kuchar.

It wasn't as bad as his 2012 US Open.

Furyk did not play his best when it mattered most. That can be described as a choke. He had the worst round of anyone in the top ten. On 15 down by 2 he should have been aiming at the pin. Instead he hit safe shot. He was playing as if he had the 2 shot lead. His mistake was waiting for Dufner to choke instead of putting the pressure on him. This was not a Major choke job but can definitely be labeled a choke.
