FIFA now planning on hosting 2022 WC in November rather than January

It was initially expected that the tournament would be brought forward to January 2012, but kicker reports the intention is now to move it to November that year, with the final set to take place on December 18. A winter World Cup would have a significant effect on domestic football across Europe. The major leagues in the continent all kick off in the summer, with the Russian Premier League changing its schedule to follow the same pattern a year ago, and will face severe disruption as a result of the Qatar tournament

A little premature IMO.

Wait, what about the solar-powered air conditioners and artificially-created clouds?

I think they would be better off building dome stadiums modeled after the University of Phoenix Stadium.

How would most teams be able to play their club games?
With youth and reserves?

By December 2022, the NFL will be a global sport and everyone will be busy watching the London Fish and Chips face off against the Berlin Bratwursts.

I imagine that they'd move the season around it

Likely start early and finish late. Sucks for the clubs because they will likely have to skip out on some preseason games and it would really suck if one of their guys gets an injury that puts them out for 3 to 4 months.

This is becoming such a cluster frick. Can't believe this is actually going through

Will they have to adjust the transfer market timing as well? This causes issues not just in 2022 but the year prior and afterwards depending on how the leagues adjust the season.

Who give a frick. We are going to have Beniesta and Pep coaching going for our third straight World Cup.

Won't this also have a minimal impact on the early WC 2026 qualifying for some federations? Some of those pre-qualifying rounds with smaller countries start pretty soon after the conclusion of the WC when it's during the summer... will taking away 6 months have an impact?

this whole thing is a fricking joke. If FIFA was an evil organization in a book or movie I would think its unrealistic for an entity to be so blatantly corrupt and incompetent and get away with it

Note to FIFA it is 2013 you got 9 years to figure this out so lets not be hasty.
