they just said he is the first brit to win a major since Faldo in 96. is Northern Ireland not considered part of "Britain" anymore?

So, I was just watching the press conference with Rose. As the were moving to a commercial they said something like "his goal today was to conduct himself in a way that would make his father proud win or lose, and that he was a big winner today". I found it ironic that when they were making that comment, they showed tiger.

It's part of the UK. Not sure what they consider Britain these days.

No, N. Ireland is not - and has never been - part of Britain. N. Ireland is part of the UK. The UK is made up of N. Ireland and Britain. Britain is made up of England, Scotland and Wales.

Justin Rose

Born in South Africa. Just a fun fact. He's as British as the next limey though. England has produced way too many good golfers to have had that dry spell. Huge over there I'm sure.

It was very entertaining...I really feel for Mickelson though. I think he played solidly all week. I am surprised they continued to broadcast after TW was out of contention...

great Us Open this year, lot of players in contention on the back nine and Phil had every shot to win this time....

I have said it before, but on another note I am starting to get the feeling Jason Day might go in a tear soon and win a few majors. He has been in contention pretty regularly lately

No doubt J. Day has the skills. The putt on 16 was the straw for PM. Maybe this will show folks that length is NOT the thing that makes courses harder. Having said that, I think if a golf course Arch. tried to sell some of those holes he would have a tough time of it. Sheer logic says that narrowing, NOT lengthening holes is what makes it tough.

I think J. Miller is losing it. He mis-spoke numerous times on Saturday...seemingly losing which players were on which holes etc.

Golf is never on TV if Tiger isn't in the tournament.

Lighten up, Francis...

Why does he play such a smug badass when discussing his 'injuries'. No one thinks he is making excuses...Just say it happened 'here', when I did 'this'...This BS game he plays with it just encourages more speculation about the pain and him.....unless that is what he wants...?

it is, so people will conclude that the only reason he doesn't dominate is because he's "injured."

It's more of the conditions than the hole.
These holes could have averaged totally differently if the rough wasn't so long and the greens weren't rock hard or so fast.

No golf course can keep those conditions without losing members and damaging the grass
