Nice. To me it beats any other kind/form of hunting.

One of my favorite ways of hunting. Also where I am from you are seeing less and less people doing it.

Rabbit hunting is badass for sure.

I haven't been in a number of years. But it is definately fun. I youtube'd some hunts just the other day to show my three boys what it was like (close any way).
Anybody out there that has some dogs that need some standers (or just would allow someone to experieince the fun) in NW LA?

I think I agree with you. Lots of shooting and a social experience with the other hunters.
I also love to watch the dogs work. The hounds doing something they love...
In Zachary La. My Father In Law has a hook up with a farmer's son in law out there.

My Pa-In-Law is partners with a man who's passion is raising/hunting the dogs. If you seriously want I may be able to put you and him together. Email me at theltballer@gmail.com

Honestly, I enjoy the hounds running more than shooting.

They do look tired. I bet though if you got a rabbit up they would get untired in a hurry. My beagles are getting old and can't quite go like they used to. Gonna have to get a new pack in a few years.

So how do you start a beagle trailing rabbits?

I introduce mine to a rabbit in a cage when they are young. Then take them by themselves in the woods or a pen with rabbits. Once they get jumping rabbits down I'll start taking them with older dogs and just keep taking them. The more you can take them the better. The best way it to buy some from a reputable place when they are about 1.5 years old. The best ones I've had were from guys who field trialled but didn't like the way a particular beagle ran.
