Does anyone know of any? Looking to buy 3 chickens and not interested in paying the ridiculous shipping costs some of the out of state hatcheries are looking to get.

Plenty of them on Craigslist. Also the Advocates Classifieds has them.

What kind are you looking to get?

I'm finishing up a coop this weekend and want to get about a dozen. Damn ground is so hard, digging the holes for the fence posts has been kicking my arse.

wonder what the price is, I raised 16 back in 1991 for 4-H. I paid 25cents a chick.

They still aren't very much. You can get them for $1-$2/each still

I'm only looking to get 3, right now I'm thinking an Oppington, Australcorp, and undecided on the third.

This is going to be my first venture into having chickens. Hitting the Green Project tomorrow to grab some coop building materials.

What kind are you looking to get? Are you just getting hens or some roosters as well?

Damn that's a hell of a lot cheaper than buying dummies.

Rhode Island Reds probably. Hopefully I'll be finished this weekend and be able to get some this week. If I can find some I'd like some Barred Rocks.

Aren't they a loud variety? My wife insists on no roosters/quiet hens.

Yes, mainly getting them for eggs and for my cousins to play with. No roosters, just hens for now. Eventually, I want a bunch of animals, but I'm starting off with a few hens.

I have a good bit of land, so I'm not putting them by my house.

Next, I'm gonna get a few wild hogs and corn feed a few months and slaughter. I have a cousin who traps some at his hunting camp.

I'm also gonna get a few cows. Probably a bull and two heifers. I'll slaughter one calf a year and sell the other.

Slickback. If you buy chicks, you are looking at least 6-7 months before they start laying. I have a bunch of Reds that are just about 14 months old and laying. I will sell you 3 at $15 each. Way cheapper buying them laying already. I have one cock too if you what to buy his arse.

I have one hen that is laying on her nest that I am planning on letting her hatch. She is about one more week before hatching.
