He didn’t report this as a fact. It was his opinion. He said it just reiterated that Lane is another character and after 15 years of Les and O, LSU likely wants to get away from that type of coach leading their program.

This fan base is extremely unstable.
Day 1 - A few people said Tucker and the board 100% ran with it, saying how doomed we were because the hire had to be a black person.
Day 2 - One person said Riley was an option. The entire board began making Riley threads.
Night 2 - One person made a vague comment, and another took it to mean Saban was coming. The entire board began making Saban threads and praising Woodward for landing Saban.
I don't know which of those 3 is the saddest, of most pathetic.

The only reason the board is making the Tate influence on Woodward connection with Mel Tucker is because Mel Tucker's record sucks. A 14-12 record hire does not fit in the Woodward mold.

The main reason I haven't completely bought into the idea of Tate wanting a diversity hire only is because he knows how much of a cash cow LSU football is. If they get the hire right, LSU FB keeps flowing money into the school and probably at a greater rate it is going now.
If they get it wrong though, a lot of school funding gets cut back.
