How do we feel about our chances if McCullers can’t go? I guess put Greinke back as starter and Javier as long relief?

We got us a true buzzer believer in New York! If that doesn't sum up the absolute state of the Yankees in 2021. Yankees media clinging to baseless buzzer theories from a series 2 years ago as the Yankees sit at home.

It doesn't help.

I think Greinke/Javier or Greinke/Stinky... I would hope for 4-5 out of Greinke but he seemed fatigued down the stretch.

Losing McCullers is not the biggest issue.

The biggest weakness of the team has a toothpick stuck in his mouth.

I wouldn't be opposed to a Odo/CK tandem. Odo for 4 and CK for 2. Honestly think that's our best solution for plugging the rotation hole. But that requires some forward and innovative thinking on Dustys part so I don't think it happens.

Yeah that should be the game 4 plan I think. Kind of terrifying in Fenway with all the fly balls those guys give up but maybe both will be better in shorter stints. I actually trust Odorizzi as long as we stick to the plan and pull him after two trips though the order no matter what

If you're going to carry Grienke in your bullpen there's the limitation that he's almost certainly not pitching back to backs. He's probably capped at 2-3 innings and then he's down for a spell. I think it's the most logical way to use him.

We've got a hole in the rotation

We've got a starter who's effectiveness is capped at about 4 innings

We've got a starter turned reliever who needs more turn around time and likely only has 2-3 innings built up

Yep absolutely. I think the caveat is if, say, Garcia struggles Saturday early but we’re still in the game maybe you use Greinke as long guy there. I’m not sure if that would take him out for Tuesday but it might. I think I’d have Greinke higher on the “long man” depth chart though than Javier even with as good as he looked the other day. Those are really the options though

Framber and Garcia having solid outings will really make things easier and becomes even more important in this series

Their career numbers at Fenway do not inspire confidence.

I hope we do this Game 4, if needed, just so I can say think. It’s not the worst choice.

I was about to look up Odos numbers vs the Red Sox. I wanted to say I remembered him being particularly wretched against the Red Sox or at fenway.

Flying home next Fri, land Bush 2p, got tix to game 6 in section 110.

ETA: Also going to the Ags/SC game the following night in College Station. Big weekend planned! (If there is a game 6).

Little of both. He and Javier kicked their arse at Fenway, only giving up 4 hits between them.

But he lost at MMP stacking up 76 pitches through 3 innings. Only allowed 4 hits, but one was a 3R shot. Also walked 3. In fairness, the poor bastard was probably deflated when he looked at the lineup card on Thou Shalt Not Sweep Day. Bottom four of the lineup that day:

Chas (before he started playing decent)
Jones
Straw
Stubbs

This whole series may boil down to the bullpen.

Game 4 vs. Chicago was a James Click wet dream. He got 5 scoreless innings from the pen, with Maton, Yimi, and Graveman all pitching.

If those dudes can do what they were brought here to do, we might can survive this

I'm not saying that was a fluke... but I don't like the odds of it happening again.

I know the Astros have enough to worry about with the Red Sox…

But I can’t see them beating either of these California teams playing right now.

So many amazing arms.

Wholly frick job bat man.

What a shitty shitty call by the first base umpire to end a game 5 game with the tying run on base.

Let’s hope dodgers blew their load against San Fran and lay a turd in the CS. Go Barves!
