Is he aware that kids all over the country go to college on their own student loans all the time? I can't imagine being over half a million in debt for anything. Maybe a house, but at least I'd get to live in it.

To be fair, he could probably construct a pretty sweet fort out of all the loan documents.

My mom would have laughed in my face had I asked her to take on loans for me to go to school. It was hard enough getting her to give me her information to plug into the FAFSA website straight out of high school.

The kids should be responsible for their own lives. If they don’t take up the note after they graduate and get real jobs, you failed as a parent and they’re entitled brats. What kind of person makes their dad work himself to death and bear that kind of debt for that long?

Parent PLUS loans are the most expensive type of federal loan: They now have an interest rate of 6.28% for the 2021-22 school year, compared with 3.73% for undergraduate loans, allowing debt to accumulate quicker for parents who need help sending their kids to school.

6.28%?? Tha frick!?!

In addition to Clark's loans, each of his kids took out about $20,000 in student loans because Clark wanted them to have a "vested interest" in their education.

I know tuition has jumped a lot over the last 20 years but I have to wonder if there weren't less expensive colleges and/or majors.

At the end of the day though this boils down to the adverse impact of unrestrained education funds pouring into the college system.

why would it cost 100 grand for each to go to school?

they should have stayed in state and went to a state school and lived at home if possible. let me guess they are goign to overly expensive schools.

he made a bunch of dumbass decisions and now wants people to feel sorry for him. He should just take responsibility for being an idiot and falling into the trap that one must go to a upscale out of state private school to be successful and that college is simply for education for the sake of education.

frick em, let him pay.

Hopefully his kids appreciate his sacrifice and love him enough to make the most of the education, get good careers, and help him pay it off in the next 10 years.

He should also start a GoFundMe after this exposure. He would probably get a nice chunk from that

I would think that only a fool would donate to a fool... but you're probably right. They are born every minute, right?

IF my kids were all in med school I wouldn't hesitate to do the same thing If I had to. I want them to make good grades not worry about debt they can pay me back for.

the thing is, you don't have to. And there are many many debt forgiveness programs for physicians. the thing is - it has to be their debt. not their dad's of whatever.

Why take responsibility? Remember in current year 2021 - In this day and age you can be a fricking lowlife and still get millions if your sob story is good enough. Remember if 1 million idiots each give you a dollar you now have 1 million dollars.
