I have a bay boat on a lift, btw. It's a pain keeping it clean and available.
They do get dirty on a lift, but I don't get the "available" part. That's one of the biggest perks to living on the water; I love my lift. Lower it, hop in.

I’ve got a couple of boats on lifts at the house. The only real pain is the birds trying to roost in the boathouse and spiderwebs everywhere. A good cover eliminates a lot of that, but my wife’s pontoon boat can be a pain to keep clean.
I need to add an awning to my boathouse. A 24’ pontoon boat in a 24’ boathouse doesn’t protect the entire boat.
The alternative to not keeping boats in a boathouse isn’t even close. It’s nice taking the cover off and hitting a switch to drop it in the water.

If I put a cover on it and the lift has an awning, it should be fine? This is saltwater.
Anything else that is a pain?

yeah I’m done
snapper regs finally took all the fun out of it, plus I’m just not as mad at the fish anymore. Good timing too because the tree cleanup at my place will eat up almost all of the proceeds

I’m not sure what Grassy’s pains were but my boathouse is a breeze. Freshwater, completely enclosed on 3 sides, tall enough to get everything out of the water. I love mine. One of the main selling points when we bought the house.

Grady White makes a great boat and they hold value well. I have a 2018 center console that’s perfect for fishing, diving, spearfishing and beaching to hang out.
Mine is on a lift like what you mentioned and it’s easy to clean and stays in good shape. With a $100k budget you could get a used 23 ft CC or an older 25 footer with twin engines.
ETA - as others have mentioned used inventory is so low right now everything is holding value

Yep, there seems to be kind of a cult following for Grady's.
Mine's an early 80's model, and I still get compliments every time it's on the water.

I don’t own one but Pathfinders hold their value really well, especially for a mass produced boat.
^this!

Is it really that much of a pain having a boat on a boat lift?
I don't like it for how amazingly dirty it gets between the spiders and dust in the air.
It is convenient to drop and go though.
As far as saltwater boats that hold value....right now all of them...

Budget is probably up to $100k. Fishing boat that can allow for other things like scuba diving, etc.

8f it was my money get a catamaran, a 1. Freeman, 2. Worldcat, 3. Glacier bay. (3. I would find a used one and put the two biggest motors you can on it and completely repower the electronics, ad autopilot, ad gps anchor, add a nice windlass and anchor system... sell it in a few years for probably more then u paid.)
I would not keep my boat on a lift unless i lived on the water and took 9t out every day or so. Everything will be thrashed after 1 summer 9f salt and sun. Get a boat yard to lift and launch your boat and have them take care of your stuff 9f u got the money

So . . that will get you a small down payment on one. Just need a few hundred thousand more for a used one.
I don’t know what some people are thinking when it comes to boat recommendations on here.

Lol I was really just listing the best catamarans and glacier bay canyon runner is what u would do.

Boats that hold their value relatively well
Just about any quality boat that is in good condition and well maintained can "hold its value," assuming you didn't overpay in the first place.
I have sold a fishmaster, triton LTS, and Blue wave pure bay all for more than I bought them for after years of use. Have a blackjack now that I could easily get $20k more than paid a year ago. I shopped like a mf before I bought them, traveled to get them, and took good care of them. The only boat I took a hit on was a 30-year old wellcraft V-20 that I spent a good amount to refit bc I loved the hull. But I spent money on that one to get it how I wanted without really caring about resale.

I love it. Buying vikings on bateau budgets. Hell you can probably finance a used bay boat for 35 years now so maybe it really is an option.

Gravois
I bought a 22' Sport Cabin C-Hawk in 2002 for $8900 and sold it in 2010 for exactly the same. Thought I came out pretty good on the deal.
